Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Seared Brussels sprouts with apple and black sesame seeds

    • ChefGrumpy on May 05, 2023

Excellent Brussels sprouts recipe with a great mix of charred sprouts and sweet apples and fish sauce providing umami.

  • Nguyen's hot wings with ranch dip

    • Williamssj7 on February 27, 2019

Great tasting sauce, baked the wings instead of fried.

  • Tomatillo sauce

    • EmilyR on January 27, 2019

Just like at the restaurant. Really phenomenal and fresh. As for the jalapeños, I recommend cutting them in half, seeding them, broiling skin side up until it gets blistery, and then peeling it off. Far easier than trying to deseed and skin after broiling.

  • Round pie dough (no-knead)

    • Williamssj7 on February 27, 2019

Really good pie dough recipe. I like to add 25% whole wheat.

    • ChefGrumpy on May 05, 2023

Time is an additional ingredient: Make the dough 24 to 48 hours before baking, per the recipe.

  • Round pies: the Emzies

    • EmilyR on January 27, 2019

Excellent! This one is on constant rotation. We love it.

    • Williamssj7 on February 27, 2019

One of my favorites from the book, great flavor combo!

  • Round pies: the Camp Randall

    • kateiscoooking on January 09, 2023

We used naan bread and made several substitutions like cheddar cubes instead of curds and Rao's pizza sauce instead of crushed tomatoes. LOVED this pizza!

  • Round pies: the Colony

    • Williamssj7 on February 27, 2019

The sweetness of the honey with the spice of the jalapeños and pepperoni really works.

    • bwhip on May 05, 2019

Ooh, this was really good. Combination sounding really interesting, but after trying it I can see why it’s their best seller. This one has found a permanent place in our regular rotation of homemade pizza recipes. Perfect blend of spicy, hot and sweet.

    • EmilyR on August 17, 2019

Another vote for an excellent pizza. I love the sweet, salty, spicy mix.

  • Round pies: the Emily

    • EmilyR on January 27, 2019

This is like savory cheese and honey dessert meets pizza. If you can't find the sottocenere al tartufo cheese use a drizzle of white truffle oil after baking it - and don't skip those pistachios. Perfection! We make this week after week and still crave it.

Don’t put under the broiler, use a torch.

Reviews about this book

  • Everyday Annie

While the recipes are wonderful in concept and flavor, the actual recipe writing and overall writing quality of the book are quite lacking.
