  The recipes in this book are easy to follow and work out very well. I've tried out a number of its cakes: Cinnamon Custard Cake; Pina Colada Cake and (the best cake ever!) White Chocolate Caramel Oat Cake. Tried them out on the guests at a Ski Lodge and got rave reviews. Her recipes are so sensible and delicious. Just note: They are in ml, g. but have an essential weights and measures conversion in the back of the book.

    Hearty winter fare, this recipe makes a lot, more like 10 serves. The parsley serves to ‘brighten’ the soup & is much more than a garnish.

• White chocolate caramel oat cake

    This is it--the best cake ever! It is chewy, crisp, heavy, caramely and makes a big-sized cake. You only need small slices so it lasts in the fridge for ages. It looks fantastic inside when you cut it--very professional in appearance

    Incredibly moreish, dangerously so. Very simple & great flavours. Highly recommended.

    I’m not sure if it was because I used a softer-style sheep milk Greek feta, but the ‘filling’ all melted out & created more of a sauce. Accordingly, decided to forego the accompanying yoghurt sauce, so cannot comment. Tasty, but not the expected presentation.

• Chicken burgers with Asian slaw

    The burgers were really tasty, but this recipe makes a huge amount of salad. I’d halve the quantity in future.

• Maple and lime roasted salmon with fresh asparagus

    The flavours of the lime & maple syrup were surprisingly muted. Might have been better grilled/broiled, rather than roasted.

• Orecchiette filled with Parmesan, basil and pine nuts

    Ok as a quick-to-prepare dish, though prefer other baked stuffed pasta recipes from a flavour standpoint.

    So so. Not enough oomph of flavour, likely even more so if you went with the substitution suggestion of parsley for coriander. I did use purple carrots which probably diminished the visual appeal of the dish. Was very quick to put together though.
