      Very good--even with canned chicken broth.

      They say this one is better after sitting in the refrigerator for a few days. So far I've only tasted it immediately after preparation. It was okay. I used a mixture of ham stock & chicken stock. This was my first exposure to juniper berries.

  • Fish marinated in herbed olive oil

      It was alright. I used Pollock rather than halibut, and then pan fried it after a soak overnight in the marinade. I don't think it did much for the flavor that just seasoning the dish as you cooked it would do.

  • Grilled pork

      The marinade makes this dish. It's easy and a quick marinade time - I started it before starting the charcoal, and 45 minutes later, put the chops on the grill. The chops turned out wonderfully full of flavor.

  • Piperade

      A quick, easy meal for brunch, with the peppers and onions taking center stage. I did use red onion instead of yellow, since that's what I had, but still, a good dish, all around.

  • Mushrooms and rice

      This turned out to be a very rich dish of rice. The mushroom flavor came through, but it reminded me of rice mixed with cream of mushroom soup, very 70's - 80's. This after I used half and half - I think, had I used full cream, it would have been way too rich. Don't hold back on the salt, it needed a good bit.
