Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Bourbon balls

    • TrishaCP on December 05, 2015

This is basically the same recipe for bourbon balls that my family has been making at Christmas for at least 30 years. My friends from Kentucky like theirs chocolate-coated but I like this style that really lets the bourbon shine.

Made these for my holiday potluck party. Several requests for the recipe.

  • Brats in beer with sweet and sour cabbage

    • swiand on January 12, 2026

Enjoyed the brat and beer recipe. We used my preferred method for beer brats where we grill the brats first and then boil in the beer bath. The spices were a nice addition to my traditional method. We also prefer brats on buns so we did that. The brats would have been great with just the cabbage too.

  • Sunday supper chicken noodle casserole

    • TrishaCP on March 18, 2015

This is a tasty (but fairly heavy) casserole that enabled me to use up several pantry ingredients. I used cooked lasagna noodles instead of egg noodles because that was what I had on hand- they were fine here. For the chicken, I simply browned it rather than cooking it for the 6-8 minutes called for in the recipe because I didn't want it to overcook. I was happy with that decision.
