Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Iceberg, fennel & avocado salad

    • RosieB on December 03, 2014

Really nice easy salad. Will make again.

    • treay on March 02, 2025

Very crunchy and creamy with the avocado. The dressing was great. It said to add some pomegranate molasses, but I have just recently bought some black cherry molasses and used that instead. Just so yummy! Lovely combination.

  • Thai beef salad

    • RosieB on December 03, 2014

I have made this a few times now. Use a good quality beef such as rump or fillet. It is easy to put together and light and fresh. It looks great if served on a nice platter.

  • Roasted cauliflower & barley salad with almonds & feta

    • TinkerTaylor on January 20, 2026

Nice salad with roast chicken! A little extra sweetness would be good to add - I used some sweeter pickled cabbage to the side

  • Roasted winter vegetables with feta & smoked almonds

    • RosieB on August 04, 2016

This was delicious. Served with a moroccan chicken with preserved lemon and olives.

  • Spaghetti puttanesca

    • TinkerTaylor on March 03, 2026

Quick and easy dinner - added in a bag of spinach for some extra veg!

  • Mushroom risotto

    • RosieB on December 03, 2014

This is a great recipe. I added some dried morels. I made the left over into arincini which were a bonus.

  • Ocean trout with smoky eggplant & minted walnut salad

    • RosieB on December 03, 2014

This is a beaut recipe for a lunch. Looks great on the plate and really tasty.

  • Fish pie

    • RosieB on February 25, 2017

Tasty pie and relatively quick to,put together. I added scallops instead of clams.

  • Spicy chickpea fritters with haloumi & lemon yoghurt

    • treay on February 18, 2025

This recipe is perfect for me to cook when I have a family member, who is not only a celiac but also a vegetarian, for dinner. I serve it with a salad on the side and it makes a delicious dinner. It's one of those vegetarian dishes that are so yummy you can eat it every week.

  • Chicken with chorizo, almonds & skordalia

    • KarinaFrancis on November 22, 2017

Another winner from Karen Martini! Lots of flavour and minimal effort. I didn't make the skordalia, just served it with some roast sweet potato. I didn't have sherry vinegar so I made a mix of balsamic, red wine and some cherry vinegar, it worked well.

  • Greek-style roast chicken with potatoes, oregano & lemon

    • RosieB on May 10, 2015

This was so easy and delicious. The chicken was moist and the potatoes beautifully lemony and sticky. A make again dish.

  • Sang choi bao with pork & cashews

    • aargle on November 25, 2014

This was a speedy delicious Sunday night dinner. Left out the mushrooms as I didn't have any. Will definitely repeat, especially great in Summer.

    • treay on February 18, 2025

Lovely recipe. A repeat in our household! This time, instead of adding the bean sprouts to the wok, I made a bean sprout salad instead, a recipe from Kylie Kwong, and it was even more delicious!

  • Chow mein

    • aargle on February 26, 2020

This is a delicious recipe that I made ages ago and then promptly forgot about. Made it again last night and it was again a huge hit with the family - it will go into regular rotation.

  • Corned beef with mustardy potatoes & salsa verde

    • treay on November 13, 2024

This recipe is just amazing. I don't cook corned beef very often, it is not part of my cultural heritage and it is usually my husband who makes it. I really liked this not so traditional way with the salsa verde and the mustardy veggies. It was delicious and very comforting for a winter night. ???? P.D. I have now made it at least a couple of times a year and it's still a favourite!

  • Slow-baked lamb shoulder with Horta-style salad

  • Salted chocolate & peanut cookies

    • lou_weez on August 06, 2020

These cookies have it all - crunchy, chewy, salty & sweet. I used porridge sachets which had a mixture of grains instead of oats & leftover Easter chocolate.

  • Spiced pineapple & ginger upside-down cake

    • lou_weez on August 03, 2020

So good. Make this cake! It's not too sweet, has a gently warming spice note with a tender crumb.
