Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Crunchy maple-pecan granola

    • Lisadimarco on October 10, 2023

I mix all three nut types

  • Cranberry-orange streusel bread

    • Frogcake on June 21, 2019

I used this recipe to make six jumbo muffins. Baked 375 degrees Fahrenheit for thirty minutes. I left the cranberries whole and used a cup, then added half cup of chopped roasted walnuts. Didn’t have enough orange juice, so added a couple of tablespoons of yogurt to make three quarters of a cup of liquid. I enhanced the streusel with flax seeds, oat flakes and tiny sprinkles of sea salt. Very good muffins!

  • Spicy maple-rosemary cocktail nuts

    • leilx on February 18, 2026

Very easy and delicious! Addictive even.

  • Crudités with lemon-parsley tahini dip

    • Frogcake on June 21, 2019

Another great recipe in this book. Love this dip, which can be used for many purposes including condiment for burgers or sandwiches. So fresh and tangy!

  • Red quinoa salad with butternut squash and spinach

    • Frogcake on December 18, 2016

This is definitely a five star salad. I served this at a dinner party recently and everyone loved it. I used roasted chopped pecans in place of pine nuts and fresh cranberries that I pan-fried. Would make again.

  • Farro with wild mushrooms

    • M3industries on January 10, 2023

This was ok - I like the idea but it needs much more flavor. I assume if paired with a rich beef dish this might be better, but I prepared it as a veggie main so it left me wanting more in the flavor department.

  • Shaved Brussels sprout and endive salad

    • mpo on February 15, 2021

As she states in her book, this is a good salad to go with a meat forward meal. I could not find red endive (can anyone?) so only used white. I added walnuts. We all enjoyed!

  • Ricotta and shaved asparagus pizzas

    • Barb_N on March 06, 2019

I made this and other varieties of naan pizza, using homemade naan dough, without even knowing this recipe existed. Variations: ricotta, Gorgonzola, caramelized onion and asparagus; ricotta, prosciutto, caramelized onion and grape tomato; and ricotta, prosciutto, asparagus and shaved Parmesan. Each pizzette cooked in about 6 minutes.

  • Seared halibut with pea-fava purée

    • Barb_N on July 21, 2023

I splurged on a piece of halibut rather than my usual cod. I was looking for a simple dish and this fit the bill. I switched up the side and made a spinach tarragon puree from an old NYT chicken recipe.

  • Roasted salmon with honey-Dijon glaze

    • Frogcake on December 18, 2016

Agree that this is perfect heaven with the quinoa butternut squash salad. This salmon recipe is easy and delicious. In a pinch you could use honey mustard brushed onto the fish (this would be the student version).

    • tlight on February 01, 2022

A good, reliable salmon recipe. I roasted with chunks of zucchini and both were cooked perfectly in the suggested time.

  • Parchment-roasted red snapper with tomatoes and zucchini
