Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Smoked salmon toast with red onion and herbs

    • bwhip on June 05, 2018

This was quite delicious! We made as a light dinner rather than an appetizer. The contrasting flavors and textures were delightful.

  • Yogurt-marinated chicken and artichoke skewers with herbed dressing

    • bwhip on May 11, 2018

These were absolutely delicious. The marinade keeps the chicken super moist and flavorful, and the combination of veggies was just perfect. I wasn’t sure that this could stand alone as a dish for dinner, but the great variety of flavors and textures, along with the lemon vinaigrette and tzatziki sauce was just perfect. Loved it.

  • Bucatini with spicy summer tomatoes

    • bwhip on August 10, 2018

Delicious, and very easy to prepare on a weeknight. Nice, bright, lemony flavor. I used just a bit more habanero than the recipe called for, and I think it could have used even more (or some red pepper flakes) to give it a little more kick (particularly given the name of the dish).

  • Peach and blackberry crostatas

    • bwhip on August 10, 2018

These turned out wonderful. Crust was excellent. Easy to put together, nice and flaky. Thyme flavor was just slightly more prevalent than I would like, I think I'll scale it back a bit next time. This made four fairly large individual crostatas. Fantastic with vanilla gelato.

  • Kohlrabi, apple, and celery root salad with black pepper yogurt

    • bwhip on December 23, 2018

Great salad for winter, with a lovely mix of flavors and a great crunch. Dressing is nice and bright. The black pepper yogurt is a great complement. Perfect winter salad if you want something light, interesting, and flavorful.

  • Salt-encrusted red snapper with winter citrus and salsa verde

    • bwhip on December 23, 2018

I’ve been wanting to try this technique for a while, and tonight was the night. It was fun, and the result was spectacular! The fish turned out great, cooked perfectly and really flavorful. It just melted in our mouths. The salsa verde was really a perfect accompaniment. I served it with the Kohlrabi, apple, and celery root salad with black pepper yogurt from the same cookbook, also fantastic. Looking forward to making both of these again.
