    This has good flavor but the texture isn't going to please everyone. I used yellow fine-ground cormeal instead of polenta; it did not cook completely and thus added a gritty texture. The texture didn't detract from the cake though I think it would have benefited from being slightly less prominent. I don't know if polenta would have behaved differently; maybe instant polenta or instant grits would have cooked up more thoroughly. Or maybe give the cornmeal about 10 min in a pot with 50g of the rhubarb to soften it up a bit, then add that before the other dry ingredients go in. I think the coconut was unnecessary; next time I would leave it out and increase the almond meal and flour. As noted in the recipe, the top got quite dark before the middle was cooked. All the rhubarb I added was chopped, rather than running some stems along the base of the pan; doing that would probably have made the base even more wet than it was for me.

    Really nice although after cooking them a few times I realise I am not a fan of turnip tops (too bitter)

    Used beef instead of venison. The butternut squash was a big surprise. It went really well with the chilli.

    I used standard sized (US) muffin tins, and the yield and cook times were way off. The flavor was nice, but I didn’t have enough jam for the 20 muffins I made (recipe said the yield was 12).

    Used a cheddar because that's all I had in, a crumby cheese would have been much better. I'm not a huge fan of bitter salads but the dressing has a lot of sweetness so I found this well balanced for my personal preference. I used blood orange instead of pomegranate seeds

    Made this again as I finally tracked down Graceburn cheese. It was great, I used pink radicchio and castelfranco. Would do again, was rich and not too bitter than to the sweet dressing and the cheese. Was good for lunch and did feel I need anything extra.

    Substituted cauliflower for the romanesco since it's closer in texture than broccoli. Used frozen fish and increased the oven time to 55 minutes to compensate.
