Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Burrata with burnt peaches and basil

    • Astrid5555 on June 18, 2021

Really delicious, creamy burrata with sweet peaches and basil. Used sesame seeds instead of pistachio nuts because this was what I had on hand. Dinner party worthy!

    • Hansyhobs on June 14, 2022

So easy and delicious. A great WFH lunch

  • Blood orange, ricotta and watercress platter

    • Hansyhobs on January 29, 2022

Tasty, if I make this again I need to make sure I remove the really woody bits of watercress.

  • Bún chả

    • Emily Hope on July 19, 2021

This was good; I made some modifications and would make different ones next time. I was feeding 4 adults and 2 kids so doubled the pork patties. However, I only had as much fish sauce (3 tbsp) for the patties as the original recipe called for. I added some salt to compensate, which was a mistake--the patties were verging on too salty. I think that 3 tbsp of Red Boat would have been enough for the entire 2 pounds of pork. I also subbed in green beans, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers for the carrots/lettuce, and would do that again. I also mixed the sauce, noodles, and veg together in advance--not sure whether I'd do this next time. Also 14 ounces of noodles is probably more than what's needed here (I probably used 6 or 8).

  • Not Caesar salad

    • Pimlicocook on July 04, 2021

Delicious: fresh and tasty, lifted by plenty of fresh herbs, and topped with moreish, crunchy potatoes (though I halved these - 500g for two seemed like a lot). Will definitely make again and again.

    • Hansyhobs on February 16, 2022

A great caesar salad. I didn't cook any chicken or courgette as I was having this with something else and cba going to the shop but it didn't matter at all. Really delicious, crispy potatoes are a great addition. Would do it again next time romaine comes in the veg box.

  • Slow-cooked, minted courgettes with beans and fresh cheese

    • Emily Hope on August 01, 2021

We liked this a lot. Uses up a good number of zucchini -- I went with 800 grams and next time would do a kilo as they cook down. I cooked some rg cranberry beans with a prosciutto end, and used that liquid. Used Feta as the cheese. Only change was instead of chopped preserved lemon, I used some leftover preserved lemon-olive oil sauce from an Alison Roman fish recipe. Served with focaccia. Will make again, though despite the headnote, this is not one that I'd turn to on a hot day as it's more comforting and soupy than bright and refreshing.

    • Running_with_Wools on July 27, 2022

This was good. The zucchini part of the recipe was my favorite - next time I'll probably double the amount of zuchhini used, because it really cooked down. The beans came out very brothy for me - at least more so than I expected based on the picture in the cookbook. They were very good though. but more of a soup than a stew.

  • Honeyed halloumi with apricot fregola

    • Astrid5555 on August 03, 2021

Used whole wheta maftoul couscous instead of fregola pasta, delicious summer salad!!

  • Agrodolce squash platter

    • Hansyhobs on February 03, 2022

The squash was a bit too soft after 80mins. Delicious recipe nevertheless

  • Charred mackerel rice bowls with ginger-pickled rhubarb

    • Hansyhobs on March 04, 2023

I really enjoyed this, served with a crispy fried egg too which was a great addition if I do say so.

  • Buttermilk chicken with sour watermelon salad

    • Astrid5555 on June 18, 2021

Made only the watermelon part of this recipe as suggested on the author‘s Instagram feed (@rocketandsquash). Great spice mix, very refreshing, will definitely be making this again throughout the summer!

  • Rainbow root som tam and perfect pork chops

    • Hansyhobs on January 31, 2022

Great and the salad is firey and addictive. I did the pork chop in the frying pan my usual way (250g each from Turner and George so good quality).

  • Mango with chilli, lime and salt

    • mjes on June 04, 2021

What? Replace my bottle of Tajin? Okay, it is obvious that fresh lime is superior and that Aleppo flakes is an example of managing the chili flavor. Yogurt with lime is a pleasant side. So scarcely an earth shaking recipe but if you're not used to fruit with lime and chili, it's something you must try.

    • Astrid5555 on June 19, 2021

Thank you mjes for the recommendation. This is truly delicious and very refreshing on a hot summer’s night!

  • Garlic pepper butter prawns

    • Astrid5555 on May 17, 2022

This is a quick and delicious weeknight dinner option, could even use a little more garlic.

  • Labneh, salted celery, olive oil and seeds

    • Happykikkers on October 25, 2024

Was ok as a quick snack but not very special.

  • Artichoke, Gruyère and cod bake

    • Pimlicocook on August 17, 2021

Hit the spot on a cool, grey, drizzly late summer day. Quick, easy and tasty with a sharp green salad on the side. I forgot to add salt to the shallots and found I did need to add a tiny sprinkle before eating. Easy recipe to halve, quarter or multiply (I made a third of the sauce for one portion, and it was perfect baked for 15 minutes).

  • Lamb chops with cacio e pepe white beans

    • Hansyhobs on October 12, 2023

I made the cacio e pepe beans as I had leftover homemade brothy beans and wanted to do something different with them. Super quick and makes a great WFH lunch. I had some toast on the side. Very rich and very tasty

  • Wrap Your Lips Around This

I enjoy the way the recipes are organized, and there are lots of achievable dishes to make. [He doesn't] add much faff...so you know you won’t be cooking things in an unnecessarily long way.
