Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Yoghurt, mint & cucumber dip (Cacik)

    • JJ2018 on September 19, 2022

Really cool recipe. It took a bit of time but the end result was worth it and will make again

  • Spinach, mince & rice (Ispanak yemeği)

    • ethedens on October 15, 2023

This was absolutely delicious. My only complaint is that it was hard to get the rice fully cooked through.

  • One-pot minced lamb & conchiglie pasta (Kiymali garavolli)

    • boncie on May 16, 2024

I made this as I had minced lamb and didn't want to make shepherds pie again! I was worried that the sauce wouldn't reduce enough before the pasta was cooked but it turned out fine. I didn't make the Chilli Butter sauce, as I feel lamb is fatty enough without extra being added to it. So I made the Garlic Yogurt as called for, but also put the flavours of the Chilli Butter into the yogurt, eg, chilli paste, pul biber and red pepper paste. I used 0% fat yogurt and it tasted fine. Accompanied by courgettes sautéed in olive oil, garlic and thyme. Nice meal!

I had high hopes for this because I’ve watched it so many times on Insta, but they weren’t quite realised. It’s a good dish but I feel it needed some acid to cut the fattiness of the lamb. When you got a spoonful with all the elements it was very tasty. I’d definitely like to try it again.

  • Six-hour slow-roasted lamb shoulder (Alti saat yavaş pişirilmiş kuzu eti)

    • JJ2018 on September 19, 2022

Really enjoyed this - it was so simple and flavourful. Served as suggested with book Accompaniments. A hit with everyone

  • Crunchy baked chips (Çitir çitir firinda patates kizartmasi)

    • JJ2018 on September 19, 2022

Adapted the recipe and cooked in air fryer - 20 mins air fry then 10 minutes on max crisp and they turned out perfectly

  • Oven-cooked beef stew (Etli güveç)

    • NMaher21 on October 13, 2022

I added a less than flattering note to another recipe from this book so I am delighted to say that this stew was really lovely.

  • Oven-roasted sea bream & potatoes (Firinda çipura ve patates)

    • KarinaFrancis on December 21, 2025

We were very lucky that my friends son caught 2 beautiful bream and wanted help cooking them. This was simple enough for a 16yo boy to do with only minimal guidance and was absolutely delicious. The only thing I’d change next time is reduce the amount of stock (same note as another of Meliz recipes)
