Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Korean fried chicken

    • kkmatti on January 13, 2026

Very good - I will make this again. There is a mistake in the recipe where the author tells us to mix 1 cup of fried chicken powder mix with water, but then doesn’t say what to do with that mixture. It should read that the chicken should go from the brine to the wet powder mix & then into the dry. I made both the sweet & spicy sauce as well as the honey soy sauce & preferred the sweet & spicy. I would increase the spicy next time.

  • Korean dipping sauce (Ssamjang)

    • Sjusjun on January 08, 2026

Not my favourite dipping sauce, Gochujang overpowered a lot. Very spicy.

  • Korean vinegar gochujang sauce (Chogochujang)

    • Sjusjun on January 08, 2026

      Simple but spicy and tangy

  • Steamed eggs (Gyeran jjim)

    • abrownb1 on February 27, 2025

Fantastic! Better than the ones at kbbq restaurants and so easy to make! Used better than bouillon and a little msg in place of the powdered bouillon and it was perfect.

  • Korean BBQ beef (Bulgogi)

    • d.giginyc on May 05, 2026

This came out sooooo good omg!! Tasted like I got it from a really good local Korean spot. Only thing to note, if you’re cooking in batches then you should split your veggies and peppers that will be sautéed right before putting in the bulgogi because you want all the batches to have that full bodied flavor. I could have cut more but I was doing too much already so I just kept throwing in more green onions since I already had a buns prepped for whatever I needed this week.

  • Doenjang marinated pork (Maekjeok)

    • AtuG on March 27, 2026

AMAZING!!! What a wonderful dish to make! The pork was flavorful, the onions, perfecto touch, we ate it with the recommended, rice, kimchi, saamjang and lettuce! Definitely going on repeat!

  • Pan-fried tofu (Dubu buchim)

    • abrownb1 on March 30, 2024

Delicious! I've had it both hot and cold and is great both ways. Leftovers are even better. Definitely eat it with rice!

  • Kimchi fried rice (Kimchi bokkeumbap)

    • AtuG on March 31, 2026

It was really good, I made the recipe for myself but it was too much, I think I have to double down next time, oh, because there will be a next time for this kimchi fried rice, it was really good.

  • Korean soybean paste stew (Doenjang jjigae)

    • abrownb1 on January 25, 2024

My favorite rendition of doenjang jjigae. The dasida really makes it addictive. The veggie amounts are pretty flexible and I've made it with just tofu and different cuts of beef, too. Always delicious!

  • Kimchi stew (Kimchi jjigae)

    • Bessp on June 04, 2024

The perfect sick meal; quick, easy, and comforting. I cooked the pork belly until it was a little crispy because that's how we like it. We topped with thin sliced scallions, cilantro, and a fried egg.

  • Vegetable pancakes (Yachaejeon)

    • Bessp on July 13, 2025

It was probably user error, but these pancakes were an absolute disaster. I spent a bunch of time finely slicing all of my vegetables. The batter was way too thin and didn't stick to the vegetables at all. What it did stick to was my pan, in a big way, despite lots of oil and preheating. The end result was mushy, oily batter that never really set up properly, despite leaving it in the pan until it was basically burned on the bottom. I don't think I'll make these again.
