Notes about this book

  • MollyB on June 12, 2025

The Gochujang Bean & Egg Breakfast Burritos (p. 73) are excellent! Adding gochujang really livens up canned refried beans. Spicy Rice Paper Omelets (p.70) are great, too.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Spicy rice paper omelets

    • MollyB on September 30, 2025

Great recipe that I’ve made several times now. If you like savory, eggy things for breakfast, this delivers a lot of flavor! Be mindful of the heat tolerance of your eaters, as the full amount of sriracha and chili crisp was a bit much for me. I prefer it dialed back by about half.

  • Gochujang bean & egg breakfast burritos

    • MingingCalypso on August 18, 2025

I think this really benefits from an acidic addition - pickled jalapenos were superb with this.

  • Soy garlic marinated eggs

    • lindsey_5xsrit on March 19, 2026

Great recipe - I want to play around with different sweeteners (mirin, sugar) because while honey was fine I found the flavor of it a bit overpowering though could’ve been the honey I used.

  • Kylie's avocado bean toasts

    • rachel_ywqstg on June 09, 2026

A fun and tasty way to add protein and fiber to an avocado toast! I’d even be happy just eating the bean and avocado mash as a spead by itself. Instead of seperate cherry tomatoes and red pepper flakes, I added hot honey cherry tomatoes (from The Wishbone Kitchen cookbook) and it worked well.

  • Satisfying & savory oats

    • MollyB on August 04, 2025

These oats are fantastic! I served with a fried egg on top. A great oatmeal option if your breakfast tastes lean more savory than sweet.

  • Breakfast cookies

    • yelizaveta_38dvwk on March 31, 2026

These were great - soft, not too sweet, and filling enough to be a whole light breakfast on the go.

    • PacoHayd on June 09, 2026

Needed a quick way to grab breakfast on the go, and this fit the bill. We all enjoyed them.

  • Miso ginger sesame mason jar noodles

    • gamulholland on August 05, 2025

This was easy, tasty, and very fresh. I kept the noodles separate. I’m not sure I’d even need the noodles some days, but they were good. A coworker let me have some sriracha and that topped it off perfectly.

    • yelizaveta_38dvwk on March 31, 2026

Delicious, like all the “instant” mason jar soup recipes in this book. Really important to remember taking the jar out of the fridge a good hour or two before pouring the water in, because with a cold jar, the soup will be lukewarm by the time the noodles soften. Even then, I sometimes like to microwave this briefly before serving to make sure it’s extra hot.

  • Sesame ginger chicken wraps

    • yelizaveta_38dvwk on April 22, 2026

A touch dry, needed some mayo or avocado in the wrap, but a solid weeknight meal!

  • Buffalo chicken wraps

    • spenceral on January 11, 2026

Great for lunch. Added a little more yogurt and Buffalo sauce so it wouldn’t be as dry.

    • Malinterese on February 18, 2026

Replaced buffalo hot sauce with BBQsauce and dropped the tortilla. Filling and tasty lunch!

  • Italian one-pot chicken pasta

    • hannah_jz2sx5 on January 15, 2026

Good, definitely easy, a little on the sweet side though? Still very good.

  • Thai fish curry

    • MollyB on September 30, 2025

Quick and easy recipe, good for a healthy weeknight meal, but not necessarily a curry I’ll go out of my way to make again.

  • Steamed rice

    • melinda_7eu82v on April 21, 2026

This recipe is so yummy. I make it with chicken broth.

  • Thai basil chicken bowls

    • MollyB on August 04, 2025

Very good and easy. I usually find ground chicken a little bit bland, but this was a great way to use it.

  • Chicken satay bowls with peanut sauce

    • hannah_jz2sx5 on January 30, 2026

This was good! I didn't have limes, so I just omitted them in the sauce, but next time I'll either get limes or use rice vinegar. Still good, but not amazing. Chicken was great, and I steamed broccoli, carrots and snap peas to go with.

    • jkhest on March 24, 2026

Made with coconut rice - delicious!

    • hannah_jz2sx5 on June 08, 2026

Chicken was excellent, and so was the peanut sauce. Used frozen vegetables this time...they were fine.

  • Peanut sauce

    • hannah_jz2sx5 on January 30, 2026

I noted this with the main meal, but for the sauce, because I didn't have any limes, I just left them out. Next time I will either get limes or use rice vinegar. I also upped the soy sauce and chili garlic sauce, because the flavor was a little too much peanut butter for me and needed more to balance it out.

  • Korean BBQ beef bowls with kimchi

    • jenmacgregor18 on August 13, 2025

This is so delicious! A perfect weeknight dinner to throw together quickly. I served it with multigrain rice from the Umma cookbook and a drizzle of sriracha—so good!

  • Spicy garlic shrimp & avo-cuke bowls

    • MollyB on August 04, 2025

Another delicious recipe from this cookbook! The shrimp are definitely garlicky, but the avocado cucumber salad offsets the spicy shrimp nicely. The salad is a keeper - it was good enough that I made another batch the night after the first batch, to accompany some garlic-ginger pork meatballs.

  • Avo-cuke salad

    • MollyB on August 04, 2025

Awesome salad! I made it two nights in a row, it was so good. It was great with the shrimp recipe it accompanies in the cookbook, but I think it would go nicely with just about any spicy not-saucy protein (grilled or roasted meats, meatballs, etc.). I loved it with spicy Asian pork meatballs.

  • Tahini sweet potato & chickpea bowls

    • KCKB on December 31, 2025

Made this for dinner tonight: swapped spinach for the kale and added a side of rice. I think the dressing would benefit from a little less turmeric and a little more cumin. Still, it was tasty and worth making again.

  • Spiced tofu with sweet potatoes & kale

    • MingingCalypso on August 18, 2025

GREAT recipe for meal prepping and convenience. Oven-only cuts down on the time and attention needed supervising cooking food (like when using the stovetop). I made this with the Garlicky roasted chickpeas with rosemary & Parms from this book and it added a great contrasting (and in my opinion needed) texture.

  • Miso salmon with asparagus

    • nicole_mwyopi on May 28, 2026

      Fantastic will definitely make again

  • Fast fajitas

    • MollyB on August 11, 2025

I made and froze a batch of this to take camping, and it was a perfect camping meal. I used a poblano for the green pepper, and that bit of spiciness was good. You don't get quite the same searing you'd get from freshly made fajitas, but the taste was great, the prep was easy (with all the chopping done ahead of time), and the resulting tacos were delicious. Note that the recipe say it serves 4, but we felt it easily made enough to serve 6.

  • Garlicky roasted chickpeas with rosemary & Parm

    • MingingCalypso on August 18, 2025

Very flavorful and great texture! Great recipe to know and incorporate in any number of dishes to elevate, or just snack on.
