  • Carrot soup

    • IowanCorn on December 18, 2023

This is a really good soup! I'd describe it as a carrot version of borsch. The pureed carrots and tomato flavors are a good match. Don't skip the sour cream dollop at the end. Any improvement I could think of is maybe adding some chopped spinach at the very end for an extra bump of flavor at the end.

  • Pike Place Market stir-fry

    • IowanCorn on June 29, 2025

Easy to put together, quick to cook, tasty with the mix of vegetables - in short, a perfect lunch for a hot summer day.

  • Barbecued short ribs

    • IowanCorn on March 21, 2025

A decent rib recipe, I used boneless pork ribs, and served with rice. I'm not sure I'd slip this into the regular rotation, but once in a while, it would be good.

  • Honey-orange rye bread

    • IowanCorn on January 23, 2025

This makes a very handsome loaf of bread. I halved the recipe, as I only had the rye enough for half, but it was easy to make and proofed beautifully. The bread was tasty, and good as toast. Well worth making.

  • Banana-nut bread/cake

    • IowanCorn on December 16, 2025

Too much sugar for the recipe - also, there's no spices in this recipe, so it's rather bland. It's edible, just boring.
