Asian Slaw with Spicy Thai Vinaigrette, page 168. So good. I had everything on hand and it came together real fast. The recipe recommends making the vinaigrette a day before for best flavor. I added 1 tablespoon sriracha, and one tablespoon soy sauce. I gave it about 2 hours and it was still delicious. So now I would like to make the vinaigrette the night before and see if it makes that much difference. My son in law and I could not stop eating it. We ate half of the slaw in one sitting.

  • Buttermilk pancakes

    • CaffeineRage on February 19, 2022

A solid, basic recipe. I will say that the instructions could use some work, but solid overall with room to put your own spin on it. Also, the recipe as written makes a ton of pancakes. I made half a batch and still had leftovers.

  • Cap'n Crunch french toast

    • LyssCooks on July 11, 2023

I used this recipe to make my first ever batch of French toast. I omitted the Cap'n Crunch but it is still my absolute favorite way to make this breakfast. These days I add some extra spice such as allspice and clove to cut down on the sugar. Highly recommend

  • Chicken stew (pollo guisado)

    • Breadcrumbs on May 13, 2010

May '10 - first use of this rec. p. 228. Great recipe will make again. Simple, quick prep. Sauce ingredients pureed in blender and chx boiled ahead so final prep is super quick. I made a number of chgs to rec based on some fdbk on FoodTv site and, our preferences. I added 2 tbsp tomato paste to sauce, reduced adobo to 1 heaped tsp (vs 1/4 cup which would be wildly hot). Used fresh garlic which was used by Diner on tv (vs powder). Chg to prep - instead of shredding chx ahead, I simply broke apart w back of spoon once the chx was added to the sauce. This preserves all the juices and was a much simpler way of achieving results. I served over rice w Arepas but rec would make a great taco or burrito filling. Would also be good for a buffet as is chaffing dish friendly.
