Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Catalan chicken (Pollastre a la Catalana)

    • veronicafrance on February 08, 2018

This was OK, but it didn't have the intensity of flavour I expected from the method and ingredients. I've had much better chicken and dried fruit dishes, for example from Diana Henry. I made lots -- I think I'll perk up the leftovers by making into a kind of tajine with coriander, cumin and cinnamon to liven it up.

  • Dates with bacon (Dátiles con beicon)

    • veronicafrance on February 08, 2018

A classic. One of the best tapas ever.

  • Cherry compote (Compota de cerezas)

    • veronicafrance on February 08, 2018

This is FABULOUS. I always makes as much of it as I can in cherry season, and then freeze it in batches for a taste of spring in winter. Gorgeous warm or cold with ice cream, Greek yogurt, or crème fraîche, but you can also use it as a garnish for almond cakes and similar.
