Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Pumpkin ravioli, with corn, hazelnuts, and Asiago

    • julesamomof2 on September 28, 2016

Delicious and easy. A fall family favorite side.

  • Lemon-tarragon chicken

    • SugarTreeBaking on July 14, 2020

Easy weeknight dinner, served ours with Israeli couscous to soak up the delicious sauce.

    • theya_9njwyi on June 07, 2026

I love this dish. I have been making it for years and it never disappoints.

  • Old-fashioned meatloaf

    • FlowerGold on March 14, 2025

Solid everyday meatloaf. Super easy. Used gluten free breadcrumbs. Used frozen chopped onions - too much moisture. Used 1 lb beef and 1/2 lb veal.

  • Traditional Bolognese lasagne

    • julesamomof2 on August 04, 2018

My favorite lasagna ever, and over the years I have been making this I've adapted it to our tastes by substituting ground turkey, and making the besciamella with only whole milk (lactose free) instead of heavy cream. It takes a little longer to get the sauce the right consistency but, with just the light dusting of parm on top, is relatively low dairy.

  • Macaroni and cheese

    • nadiam1000 on October 23, 2016

I have made this a few times and it is a delicious and rich version of mac and cheese - the tabasco gives it a nice kick.

  • Sweet potato casserole with almond-streusel topping

    • julesamomof2 on December 11, 2024

I made this for a Thanksgiving side alongside a less sweet/savory sweet potato side that I got from Food 52. The title states almond topping but the recipe calls for pecans so I went with almond and while everyone liked this one, it was definitely on the sweet side.

  • Cauliflower gratin

    • FlowerGold on March 16, 2025

Very good and easy. Used more cauliflower. Steam closer to 4 minutes. The boiled cream gets thick and paste like so only cooked 7 minutes. Bake 10-12 minutes.

Both sweet and savory recipes from the founder of the beloved Magnolia Bakery

Since its opening in 1996, Magnolia Bakery’s fan base and popularity have only grown over the years, transforming it from a beloved destination into a New York City landmark. This favorite bakery has not only expanded to four more locations in the city but has also opened up stores in Chicago, Los Angeles, the Middle East, and Tokyo. At Home with Magnolia, now in paperback for the first time, is the only cookbook from the bakery’s founder Allysa Torey to include savory dishes. The amazing recipes range from Pumpkin Ravioli with Corn, Hazelnuts, and Asiago to Strawberry Icebox Pie and are presented alongside stunning photos of the author’s beautiful, vintage home in upstate New York. And, of course, the book wouldn’t be complete without a sampling of Torey’s famous cupcake recipes as well.
