Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Raspberry and pistachio trifle

    • e_ballad on December 26, 2020

Quite a few popular media sources banged on about how this was the best thing they’d ever eaten, so for Christmas I decided that I was going to give it a go. Quite intensive due to the number of processes (but none being especially complex), it was no mean feat with 3x little people underfoot. The outcome: underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly fine. But as a combination of over-hyped deliciousness & the significant time commitment, it was disappointingly ‘ok’. For rave-worthy trifles, head to Annabel Langbein - they never fail to impress.

  • Wild rice with capsicum, pomegranate, mint, goat's cheese and pine nuts

    • e_ballad on February 01, 2018

A fantastic salad that is incredibly easy to put together.

  • Potatoes with cucumber and mint yoghurt

    • e_ballad on February 22, 2017

This was fine, but essentially roasted kipflers with tzatziki, though I've had nicer tzatziki recipes. The herbs are used in roasting the potatoes, but didn't contribute anything to the flavour of this dish.

  • Lamb tagine with apricots, figs and chickpeas

    • e_ballad on October 08, 2020

Flavourless & very, very watery. I suspect that there’s been an error with the amount of stock. Try another tagine recipe - this one is no good.

  • Shallot vinaigrette

    • v.t on January 03, 2026

Super yum. I used standard onions and not the highest quality oil and vinegar. And didnt have white peppercorns to freshly grind. Still so delicious for everyday and would be amazing with the best ingredients for entertaining

Publishers Text

In Food for Family, celebrated French–Australian chef Guillaume Brahimi visits some of Australia's most charming and stylish homes, creating delicious menus inspired by the people and place, and discovering what makes a house a home.

Join Guillaume as he prepares a laidback lunch for restaurateur Justin Hemmes at his harbourside home, cooks up a Greek feast at the heritage cottage of The Apprentice's Mark Bouris, and serves a hearty winter luncheon hosted by actor Cate Blanchett in an iconic country woolshed.

Guillaume then shares his own family's favourite recipes, relaxed, easy meals designed to satisfy a household of hungry children (and a busy French chef), including Crispy potato cakes with speck, garlic and thyme; Chicken risotto with peas and lemon; and Pineapple crumble.

This is big-hearted, full-flavoured food, perfect for sharing with those you love.

Royalties from the book will support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
