Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Braised chicken with leeks & tarragon

    • TrishaCP on November 02, 2019

The flavor was ok, but there was way too much braising liquid. And I dislike when recipes have you take the time to crisp chicken skin, only to have you then take steps to soften it and turn it flabby.

  • Turkey Parm meatballs with polenta

    • TrishaCP on September 25, 2022

These are really flavorful turkey meatballs. I ended up baking just the meatballs since I didn’t have the firm pre-cooked polenta (I made my own). So instead of adding the sauce to the tray, I heated it on the stove and added the meatballs to the pot to finish cooking. I would definitely make these again.

  • Gramma's banana cake with peanut butter frosting

    • debkellie on August 06, 2020

Halved the frosting quantity & still way too much!

  • Cashew chicken & veggies

    • debkellie on April 23, 2019

So simple & so tasty! And so little washing up!

  • Apricot-glazed drumsticks with quinoa

    • RNocked1 on January 23, 2021

Needs to cook at a higher temp.

  • Radish & ricotta frittata

    • demomcook on May 19, 2019

Subbed crimini mushrooms for the radishes and shallots for the scallions. Used an herb and sun dried tomato goat cheese. Could use a little more salt. Serving warm better than cold. Cooked 30 minutes in a Fiestaware pie dish. Very good.

  • Octavia's fresh veggie soup with chicken & feta

    • vglong29 on September 19, 2020

This soup has a lot of complex flavor. The feta cheese really makes it pop.

  • Green chicken chili

    • foodgloriousfood on October 01, 2022

I find it hard to believe that this recipe was tested. FAR too much liquid. I knew that as I was making it, but I went with the recipe anyhow and then wondered why I did that! Don't you hate that?! I simmered mine on the cooktop, not in the oven so I could keep an eye on it. I would recommend adding half the amount of broth. I ended up having to drain the liquid off into a wide pan, reduce it right down and add back in. I also added 2 xtra cans of green chiles and xtra chile powder to boost the flavor. Other than all that it was pretty good. I might make it again with the above adjustments when I am pinched for time as it is quick!

  • Jane's carrot potato soup

    • Ajammies on October 28, 2020

Easily translates to vegan, I’ve made both ways and both are delicious. Definitely use a quality vegan butter if going that route as the quality of butter changes the flavor. I prefer to make with half the butter, honestly all the butter is better but it’s still amazing with half.

  • Lamb meatballs with spinach & orzo

    • RGN on September 02, 2021

Really flavorful dish that is full of texture. Absolutely a hit and requested multiple times. Again, super easy and ingredients generally on hand. Leftovers reheat very well.

  • Chocolate rosemary shortbread tart

    • RGN on September 02, 2021

I needed a simple dessert - this is it! It is really, really rich - so plan to give some away or freeze for later. It's beautiful and interesting, with great texture and the savory rosemary just works. People thought I slaved away...

  • Thai turkey with carrot "noodles"

    • RGN on September 02, 2021

The taste was a winner. My family doesn't like coconut milk, so I omitted. I also used the wrong spiralizer blade so it didn't look like the picture at all. But the taste was fresh and light. Family has a lot of allergy restrictions that impact our options with Asian food, so this was a great surprise. Don't think it's like anything from Thailand :) but it was a good change up for us.

  • French chicken stew

    • RGN on September 02, 2021

Followed recipe exactly - which I rarely do. It was so easy and straight-forward. Served in the dutch oven for a cozy, small pre-covid dinner party. Huge hit. Many different food restrictions in the group and this recipe conquered all of them! I did thicken the broth at the end a bit for my own preference.

  • Baked spring risotto

    • RGN on September 02, 2021

So easy - and surprisingly nice results. Very cheesy and satisfying - not a soft runny risotto, but the flavor was great and it uses a lot of pantry ingredients. Will make again.
