Notes about this book

I'm so glad I pulled this book off the shelf, what a delightful and enticing selection of recipes. Thankfully it's not a huge book because there's absolutely nothing I don't want to make. No kidding, every dish appeals! A headnote accompanies every recipe. Font size is good and layout makes for easy reading. I look forward to cooking my way through this book.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Marcella's potatoes

    • Dinovino on January 13, 2024

Susbtitute oregano with freshly picked Bay Leaf, very tasty.

  • Bruschetta with chickpea pâté and barbecued tomatoes

    • Breadcrumbs on September 07, 2014

Spring 2014 - I made this dish before tomato season so instead of outdoor tomatoes grilled I used hothouse grown Campari tomatoes and roasted them. The sweetness of the tomatoes was wonderful with the slight tang of the lemon/chickpea mixture. This was a real hit with our guests and mr bc as well. I'd definitely make it again.

Publishers Text

There are over 100 colourful, tantalising recipes, combined in 10 distinctive menus for a long Italian lunch. Each menu has a theme - the arrival of spring, a Tuscan picnic, the opening of the mushroom season - and Julie's description of the settings, the people, the celebrations is as entertaining as her notes on the food and how to prepare it.
