Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Thanksgiving salad

    • Jviney on October 12, 2025

Made this for Canadian Thanksgiving and realized the morning after that I forgot to add the goat cheese. I think this one would benefit from the shredded turkey and (of course) the goat cheese as well. The dressing is very sage-forward, I found it a little bit strong. A very pretty addition to the table, though.

  • Dude ranch salad

    • jenburkholder on December 23, 2022

Tasty if not exceptional salad. We omitted iceberg. Made versions with tofu and chicken, and both were enjoyed. We sprinkled on some pickled jalapeños at the end, and really enjoyed that touch of vinegar.

  • Love salad

    • VineTomato on December 23, 2022

It's an enjoyable salad but not sensational - I was expecting more considering the fabulous list of ingredients. I will make it again as a nice prep ahead salad for the week full of healthy things. I roasted my own beetroot and next time will mix raw and roasted beetroot together for a bit more interest.

  • Citrus and steak salad

    • bwhip on May 04, 2024

Excellent recipe. Really flavorful and interesting, and easy to put together. Dressing was really nice, and the pineapple spice crunch really elevated the salad nicely. Looking forward to having this one again.

  • Cabane à sucre salad

    • jenburkholder on January 11, 2025

Quite an enjoyable salad. Subbed vegan bacon and omitted the ham, but probably should have put something else in - felt a little light on substance. Cheddar cubes might have been nice. The maple pecans didn’t want to set, so I would probably stick to a normal candied nut.

  • Spicy rosemary nuts

    • VineTomato on December 23, 2022

You can't go wrong with roasted nuts! The flavour could be amped up - next time I'll add more spice and might try dried rosemary (it might burn during the bake - need to think it through)

  • Very berry [dressing]

    • VineTomato on December 23, 2022

Lovely flavour of basil and berry. I always prefer to radically reduce the oil in dressings and personally don't feel it makes them any less enjoyable. Not the best looking dressing but it did survive three days in the fridge.

  • Peanut butter, lentil, and chickpea soup

    • jenburkholder on May 01, 2023

Decent but not particularly interesting soup. Would have been better much spicier.
