I believe this is the first book in the Microwave Cooking Library that was published outside of the original 12 in the series, making it the 13th book of the series. The first twelve are: Basic Microwaving, Recipe Conversion for Microwave, Microwaving Meats, Microwave Baking and Desserts, Microwaving Meals in 30-Minutes, Microwaving on a Diet, Microwaving Fruits and Vegetables, Microwaving Convenience Foods, Microwaving for Holidays and Parties, Microwaving for One and Two, The Microwave and the Freezer, and 101 Microwaving Secrets. The above 12 books are identical to the Litton Microwave Series published between 1978 to 1982. They have different titles and covers, but otherwise they are identical. All books were written by Barbara Methven. Several in the series had a co-author.

Publishers Text

For years, Americans paid attention to their diet only when they wanted to lose weight. In the past decade, interest has been growing in honest nutrition as an aid to health and fitness.

People are beginning to check food labels for high sodium and sugar content are reducing the fats, sugars and salt used in home cooking. They're learning to enjoy lean poultry and fish, and are eating less red meat. They increase the fiber in their diet with vegetables, fruits and whole grains.

Microwave oven owners who want to cook for health and fitness have ahead start. Chicken, fish and vegetables are among the foods the microwave oven cooks best. Microwaving is naturally low-fat, and it brings out the flavor of foods so you can reduce salt. Tender-crisp microwaved vegetables retain their vitamins and useful fiber.

The book is designed to help you make the most of the microwave advantage. You'll find plenty of variety to provide all the nutrients you need daily. You'll learn that nutritious doesn't mean dull. What's good for you can be just plain good.
