      What fun! Love these simple retro recipes. Did not have canned onion soup and subbed my own frozen caramelized onion and canned golden mushroom soup. Very good eating with a side of mashed potatoes and pan roasted asparagus. Photo added.

      These retro recipes are fun and easy on budget and time. My husband really liked this one quite a bit. I added garlic as well as cumin to the meat and topped the tomato slices with Parmesan cheese as well. I picked this recipe looking for the use of ground beef and cottage cheese together and EYB was perfect in finding this recipe. Whenever I have leftover cottage cheese I normally make cottage cheese meatloaf which is very good and also retro, but wanted to try something new. Glad I did. I love the way mixture of eggs and cottage cheese on top of meat mixture made it puffy and enticing.

      I still have Bisquick to use up, so tried yet another cheeseburger pie recipe. This one is futzier than the "impossible" version from the Betty Crocker Cookbook, as you have to roll out the crust, but it wasn't that much work. The pie did not hold together when sliced soon after baking; it sliced more neatly when we had seconds. This pie was heartier and a bit tastier than the impossible version. You could doctor it up with some herbs or perhaps mustard in the filling. My family liked it.

      Had a retro dinner tonight based on this recipe. I don't keep the condensed soups on hand, so I had to improvise with beef base and water. This was delicious in that "remind me of childhood" comfort food way. Made plenty of gravy, served with mashed potatoes, and steamed green beans. Youngest daughter and I really liked it.

      Mother did not serve fried chicken. When I first discovered it, I was fascinated but much too young to be trusted with hot oil so Mother had me make Oven-fried chicken that was very similar to this recipe. I remember the recipe using a brown paper bag (in lieu of parchment paper). I couldn't resist cooking this on a brown paper bag. This recipe makes a quite decent fried chicken.

      We have enjoyed this recipe for years! I don't usually buy cornish game hens, but we use boneless skinless chicken breasts and baste with the brandy marmalade sauce while baking. After the chicken is done, I bring the sauce to a boil and then use it on the rice.

      Made this tonight to go with some sticky drumsticks. I'm not a fan of heavy mayo in coleslaw, so I really like this coleslaw recipe. I've used it for many years. I subbed red bell pepper for green and diced red onion for sliced green onion, because that is what I had in the house. My measurement of the cabbage is not exact, I just sliced up most of a head of cabbage, probably closer to 5 cups than 4.

      A simple recipe to put together with very little flavor. I used thawed frozen blueberries, 1% milk and (realized after the fact) 1/4 cup Parkay margarine. The muffins looked beautiful with perfectly golden tops, but we like our muffins just a little bit sweeter than these. In all fairness, the description for the recipe was accurate: "an old-fashioned, not-too-sweet berry muffin." Since I make Blueberry Muffins often, I will probably try this again using the right amount of Parkay.
