  • Pumpkin chocolate chip bread

    • Shewi128 on September 23, 2024

I've made several kinds of spiced pumpkin bread, and this was a good version. It was a bit inconvenient to put orange juice in the batter, and you couldn't taste the orange, so I don't know if I'd make this again for that silly but simple reason. It was really good though.

We loved this bread, it has a great balanced spiced pumpkin flavor. The texture is very tender, tending to fall apart when sliced—could be due to using too little flour (I subbed 200 grams white whole wheat) or slightly undercooking it? I used 1/2 cup walnuts instead of chocolate chips. Also used 150 g brown sugar and 100 g white, as per her online version of the recipe. FYI per the orange juice, her blog post mentions you can use milk instead of OJ. Definitely a repeat for us.

Lovely, fluffy pumpkin bread. I like that it uses oil and not butter. I might increase the spices next time, as Sally mentions in the book. I tented the loaf with foil about halfway through. My chocolate chips mostly sank to the bottom and the top looked a little deflated after cooling. (It could be because my foil touched the top of the baking loaf, and I left it in the tin for hours.) But it was a nice, big, full 9x5 loaf.

  • Lemon poppyseed muffins

    • Shewi128 on March 14, 2022

Very good. Her muffin technique to get lifted muffins is the best!

    • cookingbychapter on April 14, 2026

Did I do something wrong? These were not good.

  • Jumbo blueberry streusel muffin

    • Shewi128 on June 19, 2023

Definitely a memorable blueberry muffin recipe. It was incredibly filling as well. The streusel was nice and crunchy. Easy to throw together in the morning. I loved the cinnamon in both the batter and streusel. Would make again.

  • Double chocolate muffins

    • jenmacgregor18 on February 07, 2022

I used part sour cream and some yogurt, Droste cocoa, and dark chocolate chips instead of the semi-sweet called for in the online recipe. These were rich and very chocolatey and delicious. We ate quite a few and froze the rest to enjoy later. Note: this recipe makes 14 generous muffins. So, you'll have to have a 2nd muffin tin for the extra 2.

Dessert for breakfast. My kids loved them!

    • hailey_tthlx3 on January 02, 2026

      Very good and very chocolatey

  • Fudge ripple monster bars

    • taste24 on June 22, 2020

These were a big hit at the pool party I brought them too. Soft and chewy and a nice change up from a regular blondie with the fudgy chocolate center.

  • Cinnamon roll blondies (with vanilla glaze)

    • taste24 on June 22, 2020

I LOVE these bars. Very easy to make and they are so soft and so addicting. Each bite is full of cinnamon (in a good way) and the glaze is perfect. I like to spread it all over the top, not drizzle in stripes.

  • Apple pie streusel bars

    • Shewi128 on May 18, 2025

This was a pretty easy replacement for apple pie. The streusel was nice and crispy.

  • Salted caramel crispy treats

    • taste24 on June 22, 2020

Tasty version of a crispy treat - I wish I could taste the caramel a little bit more. I used the salted caramel sauce recipe in the book.

    • Shewi128 on August 23, 2022

I doubled the recipe to make a full 9 by 13 pan of treats. I used my own homemade salted caramel sauce. I don't personally love rice krispy treats, but my family definitely did. I thought they were a little gooey, but the flavor was good.

  • Dark chocolate peanut butter cake

    • CaffeineRage on February 05, 2022

Good flavor but it makes a very, very dense cake. Think almost fudge like in texture.

  • Rainbow chocolate chip cookies

    • Shewi128 on March 14, 2022

Soft, cookies, but not too cakey. We really liked these.

  • Potato chip toffee chocolate chip cookies

    • Shewi128 on March 14, 2022

I made my own homemade toffee pieces to be nut-free. Holy cow, these surprised me, I couldn't imagine what the potato chips would taste like in the cookies, but it's like getting a burst of salt with the sweet toffee. They were quite good!

  • Salted caramel dark chocolate cookies

    • taste24 on June 22, 2020

These get 5 stars for their flavor - outstanding. Nice and chocolately, not too sweet, great bites of caramel and the flecks of salt on top are perfect. The dough is difficult to work with - it's so sticky. I wear food safe latex gloves when rolling the dough in my hands and stuffing the Rolo inside. Make sure you cover up any cracks or pieces of the Rolo to prevent the cookie from breaking open at the bottom and leaking caramel out.

  • Mom's gingersnaps

    • mharriman on November 13, 2019

Unlike cookies from Sally’s Cookie Addiction, these cookies didn’t turn out perfectly to my preference. They mostly look like the photo depicted but the dough between the iconic cookie cracks on mine appears a bit undone. Mr. H. thinks they’re fine and not undercooked. He says they’re delicious. They are very good. A couple differences in description and my results: The dough was not crumbly as described by Sally, so maybe my dough was too wet? Another difference: Sally directs me to press my fingers on the baked cookies to create the cracked look. My oven did that as the cookies were baking. Maybe that’s no big deal. I’ll definitely make these again because they‘re so tasty, but maybe I’ll take away a tablespoon of molasses and see if that makes a difference in the doneness appearance of the insides. Nov. 21 Update: no one thinks they’re underdone and they were the favorite cookie at last church coffee hour. Don’t make any changes!
