  • Salt and pepper tofu (Đậu hủ xốc muối tiêu)

    • erin3107 on July 18, 2023

pretty tasty! I always make the salt and pepper tofu if they have it from a new cookbook and I'm usually disappointed as it doesn't taste as nice as from a takeaway. this one was the exception though!

Very solid recipe for salt and pepper tofu. Next time I'd make it with a dipping sauce-- maybe the scallion oil from the book--- but it was crispy and flavorful!

    • Tealismyname on August 24, 2025

The flavour was nice but I think we cooked this badly as we didn't use enough oil for frying. Will try again.

  • Grilled aubergines with spring onion oil (Cà tím nướng mỡ hành)

    • Apollonia on September 12, 2023

Despite the book's dire warning against premade vegan fish sauce, I used it (fish mint, necessary to the book's fish sauce recipe, is just not available where I live), and it worked out great. I found the dish on the edge of too sweet, but my family loved it. I did my eggplants on my gas grill, and it worked perfectly. Next time I'll knock back the sugar a bit and double the recipe.

    • Tealismyname on August 24, 2025

We really enjoyed this. We also used vegan fish sauce. We don't haave a gas oven/grill so I just popped the eggplant in the oven. Super easy while I was preparing everything else. Used this with the salad bowls. Yum!

  • Cavolo nero noodles (Mì xào cải đen)

    • Astrid5555 on March 11, 2024

Topped with chilli crisp oil this is a delicious quick and easy weeknight dinner dish, will repeat.

  • Courgette spaghetti with miso and nori (Mì bí ngòi với miso và rong biển khô)

    • Astrid5555 on March 11, 2024

This is like a Vietnamese version of spaghetti carbonara, used Mie noodles instead of spaghetti pasta and whole eggs instead off yolks only. Very good!

  • Crispy chilli tofu noodles (Mì xào với đậu hủ cay giòn)

    • Tealismyname on March 15, 2025

Quick and easy- good for a midweek meal. I think it needed a bit of oyster sauce or something slightly sweet do add depth to the sauce.

  • Vermicelli noodle salad bowls

    • Tealismyname on August 24, 2025

A really decent base with some excellent options to bulk it out. I enjoyed the dressing too. Comes together rather quickly

  • Sweet and sour tomato and golden beetroot soup (Canh chua chay)

    • NoaBC on June 08, 2024

I would never have put these flavours together but it was surprisingly delicious! Nice use of rhubarb for something other than a crumble or compote. I used red beetroot because that’s what I had on hand and added noodles and tofu to make it a full meal.
