Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Creamy mascarpone butter beans with sausage and gremolata

    • lkgrover on May 05, 2025

Good sausage & beans stew. I substituted cannellini beans for butter beans; also used garlic sausages.

    • Lepa on January 09, 2026

I thought this was exceptionally delicious. I loved the unusual combination of flavors and the gremolata really added a wonderful note. We ate it with toasted herb slab instead of over toast but I'm sure that would be great, too.

  • Butter bean, goat's cheese and chard frittata

    • DebCooks on May 27, 2026

Really good! I was skeptical with the beans in a frittata but this was delicious. The basil made the flavor fresh and light. Will make again.

  • Turkish lentil tomato soup

    • Victoria_from_London on February 28, 2026

Even without toppings this was great. Pureeing half the mixture is vital to smooth out flavours and tone down the acidity. Used tomato paste+Aleppo flakes. Cooked in a WIDE cast iron pot, which would 100% recommend.

  • Dal tadka

    • DebCooks on May 05, 2026

Terrific recipe! Great flavour profiles with the cumin and mustard seeds and curry leaves.

  • Harira

    • Lepa on February 01, 2026

We weren't crazy about the flavor profile here- too much clove. Okay but not a repeat for us.

  • Chicken, chickpea and aubergine tagine

    • lkgrover on August 11, 2025

Excellent chicken tagine (stew); lots of unexpected flavors that blend well together.

  • Chicken with 40 garlic cloves and butter beans

    • Bessp on February 21, 2026

This would be lovely served with some nice crusty bread. I added zucchini for a vegetable at the same time as the beans, and a bit of cream to make more of a sauce of the cooking liquid. Tasty, pretty quick, and I love the garlic. Definitely a good weeknight recipe, as it calls for almost all things we always have on hand and is quite comforting.

  • Chorizo, cider and white beans

    • Lepa on February 08, 2026

This was a bit disappointing. Not a repeat.

  • Roasted broccoli and leeks with lentils and anchovies

    • DebCooks on May 30, 2026

Not bad. A good way to use up some greens — lentils are nice with the vegetables. I used milk instead of cream, so maybe i’ll try the cream next time. Just okay.

  • Chickpeas with green olives, preserved lemon and coriander

    • Victoria_from_London on March 07, 2026

Thanks to this I've finally dared try preserved lemon. Works with green olives. I also enjoyed it adding tinned tuna in oil and pomegranate seeds.
