Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chocolate butter cookies

    • JKDLady on July 15, 2015

We did not like these at all. They were too floury. I needed to cook these longer. I would not make these again.

  • Carrot salad

    • JKDLady on July 18, 2015

This was a very good side dish to baked chicken wings with an Asian sauce. Definitely worth repeating.

  • Barbecued baby backs with Sheila's raucous BBQ sauce

    • JKDLady on July 15, 2015

      Too sweet for our taste.

  • Pot-roasted chicken santiago

    • JKDLady on July 15, 2015

Cover the chicken with sauce before putting it in the oven.

  • Pineapple ginger rice

    • hillsboroks on June 23, 2021

This recipe amps your rice up with layers of flavor and is delicious as a side dish with salmon or fish and chicken. Be careful what kind of rice you use though. The first time I made it I used basmati rice and it was just a bit clumpy when it was finished cooking. The second time I used jasmine rice and ended up with a delicious rice porridge that everyone loved. Next time I am going to try some old-fashioned long grain white rice that should stand up better to the cooking technique and cooking time.

  • Shrimp toasts

    • amoule on December 25, 2015

Very good. Needs more salt, or perhaps some soy sauce. I'll bet these would be good fried in salted butter.

  • Jason Epstein's clam dip deluxe

    • amoule on July 14, 2016

Everyone who commented on this last night liked it much better than I did. I thought that adding clam juice to mascarpone didn't quite work -- it seemed like it was on the verge of separating. Also, the flavor was quite bland. I ended up adding more clams and some Old Bay Seasoning to correct the flavors. I would not repeat this recipe.

  • Aunt Sabella's black chocolate cake with fudge icing

    • Kinhawaii on July 11, 2020

I love to make this when I want a little chocolate cake with frosting. Frosting is good on cupcakes too. Yummy!
