Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Roast lemongrass & ginger chicken

    • treay on November 26, 2024

This is a very simple and delicious recipe from Neil Perry. I have varied the actual recipe and made it a lot easier. I used deboned chicken thighs instead of chicken breast. They both work very well.

  • Egg noodle salad with barbecue duck & hoisin sauce

    • shane.metzke on February 14, 2023

For veg I used julienned carrot, snow peas, wombok, capsicum, shallots and gai larn. Added a garlic clove and a teaspoon of grated ginger. MC YEE egg noodles are excellent. Substituted rice wine vinegar.

  • Thai-style squid salad

    • Dishyrishie on January 13, 2017

Has a lot of fish sauce which can make it salty when combined with the peanuts.

  • Fragrant fried rice

    • treay on December 13, 2024

The only thing I changed was the yellow bean soy sauce. I used normal soy sauce but added some black bean chilli oil. It was delicious.

  • Sicilian veal involtini with herbed risoni, roast tomato & oregano sauce

    • treay on November 11, 2024

This is a nice recipe and it is not hard to make and I have made a couple of times before. It is very delicious. However the previous times I cheated with the tomato sauce because either I didn't have the time or the tomatoes were overly expensive and used a good quality ready-made sauce from a jar instead. I used one that was very close to the recipe: sun dried tomatoes with oregano. It was still very good. This time I actually followed the recipe for the sauce and I have to say that it is amazing. It is the real highlight of the dish. It has to be cooked for almost 2 hours so it's a good idea to maybe even make it the day before. We loved it

  • Meatballs in chipotle sauce

    • pennyvr on December 27, 2014

I substituted Textured Vegetable Protein for a vegetarian version. I think a better substitute would be red kidney beans, for balls that are more cohesive.

    • Dishyrishie on January 12, 2015

Delicious and spicy. Not for the faint-hearted but so worth it.
