Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Ox cheeks stewed with wine & beer

    • Leo on October 29, 2022

This was rich and delicious. We served it with fresh pasta and vegetables. Ox cheek is something we grab when we see it and thanks to EYB for leading us to the perfect recipe to make the best of it.

  • Sticky oxtail stew

    • Indio32 on January 24, 2022

Great recipe. Used a white wine as my wife finds reds too heavy. There was plenty of extra sauce which would be excellent as a gravy for other meats. Would definitely recommend chilling this overnight so as to be able to skim the fat which I think would overwhelm the sauce otherwise.

  • Venetian duck ragu

    • Leo on November 05, 2022

Made this a couple of times. It is gorgeous, rich and comforting. It takes time as do many of the recipes in this book but it is a relatively simple recipe. Great leftovers!

  • Mallorca slow roasted lamb shoulder

    • etcjm on April 10, 2023

Excellent choice for a day when the family were busy. We came in to the most beautiful cooked shoulder. Served with various bits - so we could mix and match. Roast potatoes, potato salad, barley couscous with roasted vegetables, tomatoes and basil, lots of salad (separated for people who can't have celery touching cucumber...). Broccoli and beans. Fresh bread. Altogether a feast, and it also meant I didn't need to cook on Easter Saturday. No picture - and that's because it looks exactly like the picture in the book.

  • Green peppercorn sauce

    • beano78 on March 30, 2026

Great tasting but quite a thin sauce.
