    p. 137 – This was excellent! Even though I subbed ground veal for the top sirloin, or perhaps because of this, this dish exceeded our expectations. This is a dish that would be equally welcome at the breakfast table as it would be suited for a lunch or dinner. I used 3 Thai bird chilies which was plenty for us. The egg over top seals the deal and takes this dish to super-star status. I used Chinese long beans. This is a recipe I’ll make again and again. Wonderful, if you’re a fan of Thai food, this is well worth a try.

    This was absolutely amazing. I made it with chaource as I couldn't get hold of Reblochon but it was still fabulous. I will certainly make this again.

    p. 232 – Quick and delicious dish. The recipe suggests marinating “as long as you can” I only had 2 hours but this proved to be adequate and the meat was fragrant and flavourful. I believe that toasting the fennel seeds is key here. I combined them with my rosemary using my mortar and pestle. I added a little balsamic vinegar to the marinade as well and since we were grilling our kabobs I added the garlic to the marinade. This is a keeper and so simple. • Bumper beef stew with dumplings

    I don't know why this tastes better than any other stew I've ever made but it does. Like all stews it tastes even better the following day.

    I cooked this recipe from the other version of this book. The ingredients seem slightly different. I served it over noodles and it was enjoyed. It’s a good recipe for a weeknight meal.

    I added an Oxo Cube, and a fresh Red Chilli (seeds in), and extra Chilli Flakes to make it more spicy.
