Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Turmeric & courgette pancakes

    • eeeve on February 13, 2026

Only made the pancake part of the recipe, not the avocado “pesto”. Found them quite bland. Definitely need a dip or perhaps a fried egg on top. Edit: found the leftovers inedible, had developed a weird taste. Unfortunately went in the bin.

  • Simple five-ingredient breakfast cookies

    • Ajammies on January 19, 2024

Not sure if this recipe is written correctly, my batter was very liquidy/wet. Directions say to shape into balls with hands - even after adding 1/4 c of flour this wasn’t shape able.

  • Sweet potato muffins

  • Salted coconut & cacao granola

    • eeeve on February 15, 2026

This is alright, find the result way to “crackly“. Burnt at 180C for half an hour in the oven. The taste is nice, and I prefer the little clusters as snacks to having in my muesli. I’ve somehow warmed to them after a few days of eating.

  • Roasted garlic & chive spread

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

      this was sooooo good

  • Creamy kale & mushroom salad

    • KatytheCook on December 30, 2022

Delicious, plenty of dressing (as the book says). I found dressing slightly bland so would add more lemon

  • Edamame & avocado salad

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

      this was only ok

  • Tomato & lentil salad

    • erin3107 on September 19, 2022

the dressing and the red onions were too strong in this, I think it would have been good otherwise

    • willow_vqskrl on May 29, 2026

We made this a lot to take to BBQ’s as we always use the staples in the pantry and can buy rocket and parsley on the way to a party. Everyone seems to love it as much as we do and always ask for the recipe.

  • Garlicky broccoli & beans

    • erin3107 on September 30, 2022

the recipe turned out nicely but it took me a lot longer than 10 minutes! had to roast the garlic, grate and zest, make pesto etc so it took about 45 minutes in the end.

    • mikeyeatsstuff on May 30, 2024

Very satisfying and tasty. I skipped roasting the garlic and just used raw. I also subbed parsley for part of the basil because I didn't have quite enough, and it turned out well.

  • Super creamy turmeric pasta

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

was decent and very easy but not enough to make again

  • Sun-dried tomato pasta

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

Not bad or anything really just not that interesting

  • Crunchy Mexican salad

  • Sesame, almond & black pepper tofu bowl

    • erin3107 on July 24, 2022

too much pepper in my opinion, wasn't pleasant to eat

    • mikeyeatsstuff on June 15, 2024

LOVED this, but drastically cut back on the pepper (I used about 1/2 teaspoon) because I just don't like it. The recipe was super tasty and filling.

    • eeeve on February 12, 2026

This was alright; fairly quick and easy to make. Having read the previous reviews, I also only used a half teaspoon of black pepper. Didn’t like the almond butter in there, I think it tasted better before that was added. Also put in a red pepper to up the veg content. The dish is not a favourite, but might make again.

  • Sweet potato & black bean bowl

    • SugarFree_Vegan on January 21, 2024

I added some cumin to the black beans along with a couple of tablespoons of chopped canned tomatoes and mashed a few of them to make a thicker consistency. The dressing makes loads but it keeps in the fridge and is very tasty!

    • eeeve on February 19, 2025

I liked this, but next time wouldn't skimp on the chilli. Used soya yoghurt for the dressing as that's what I had at home and didn't think it works - too sweet somehow and too overpowering. Would make again with a different yoghurt.

  • Miso noodles with seame tofu

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

very good and was easy as well which is nice

  • Easy red lentil dhal

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

this was nice but I've had nicer dhal recipes so will stick with those

  • Satay sweet potato curry

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

was ok on the night that I made it, but was so nice the following day. So I recommend making a day in advance!

  • Mushroom & walnut ragu

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

was good but probably won't make again

  • Tomato risotto

    • CharlottePea on September 11, 2024

Very tasty and the kids liked it too. I used fresh rosemary and maybe a few cherry extra tomatoes. Plus brown risotto rice. I didn't have celery so I used some shallots instead.

  • Nut butter chocolate chip cookies

    • eeeve on February 15, 2026

These didn’t come out great, the dough was very very wet (and oily). Thought I did something wrong, as the instructions tell you to press the dough together and form into balls. I added couple more tablespoons of flour and some ground flax seeds to get that consistency. The cookies came out quite dry and crumbly. The taste wasn’t bad, but I have other recipes for this kind of cookie that work better for me.

  • Giant couscous & almond salad

    • erin3107 on February 18, 2023

very yummy! I have made this multiple times as it's really good

  • Veggie lasagne

    • eeeve on February 28, 2025

Another one for the "not quite there" list, on my quest to find a good vegan lasagne. The ragu wasn't bad, albeit a bit bland. The white sauce - I only had soya milk in, and used cornstarch instead of tapioca flour, and the sauce wouldn't thicken. I added a couple tbsp of plain flour in the end, but the sauce then just tasted of flour with no other discernible flavour. I regret not having looked up other versions of making vegan béchamel with soy milk. Won't repeat this one...
