Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Curried carrot blitz

    • juliet_496g8u on March 22, 2026

Adore this! Especially the addition of coriander seeds. I usually make only half as it's a huge recipe!

  • Tamari-roasted seeds

    • eeeve on November 10, 2022

Another win from this book! Very tasty, and super easy and quick to make with a packet of mixed seeds, just pop in the oven alongside something else.

  • Potato, beans & smoked mackerel

    • FJT on June 23, 2022

This was a nice supper on a hot day.

  • Red cabbage, carrot & clementines with raisins & walnuts

    • eeeve on May 11, 2021

Loved this! Nice combo, easy to prep.

  • Spicy roast parsnips with barley, raisins & walnuts

    • eeeve on November 08, 2022

Lovely! Used curry powder instead of paste. Only had spinach leaves in, and I think something more flavoursome, like fresh herbs or rocket, would have been great. I found the dressing (trickle of olive oil and citrus juice) didn't quite stand out enough, might try something with a bit more oomph for the leftovers.

  • Omelette slaw

    • eeeve on November 09, 2022

Really liked this one, made double the amount of slaw to have some leftovers. I had a ready made ginger, soy & lime dressing to use up, which worked a treat. Didn't put the optional chilli flakes in the omelette, so the 5yo could have some, and think it would have been nice with a fresh chilli sliced on top instead.

  • Roast mushroom & artichoke soup

    • FJT on April 22, 2023

Quite nice; made with chickpeas rather than cashews.

  • Storecupboard tomato & bean soup

    • eeeve on July 11, 2024

This soup reminds me a lot of the ones in the Fast 800 books that I've been making. It's pretty good, albeit a bit too heavy on the tomato side for me. Might leave out one can and replace with stock next time. Otherwise quick and simple to do. Added optional veg (carrot, celery, red pepper).

  • Rye & banana cookies

    • eeeve on June 26, 2023

Nice! Used plain white flour, dried figs, couple handfuls buckwheat groats, no nuts, rapeseed oil (reduced amount by a quarter), used coconut sugar (reduced by a third) and added dark chocolate chips. Very very good.

Publishers Text

In Eat Better Forever, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall gives you all the tools to improve your eating habits, and therefore your life - permanently. And to help it all happen, he's added his 100 healthiest recipes yet.

In this ground-breaking book, instead of promising a gimmicky single-fix solution to the challenge of healthy eating, Hugh extracts the knowledge, advice and healthy habits, from cutting edge research into the obesity crisis, to produce 7 simple strategies that will transform your diet and your health. Starting with the blissfully simple message that we all need to Go Whole, he leads us away from the industrial junk and processed foods that are doing so many of us so much harm and returns us to the real foods that nurture us and keep us well.

Everything that follows is clear, believable and achievable. From sorting the good carbs from the bad, learning not to fear fat, and looking after our gut, to renegotiating the foods we call 'drinks' and being mindful of when to eat...and when to take a pause... Hugh guides us to a better way of eating that will last us our whole lives.

It's all offered up with reassuring tips and switches that help us act on the vital knowledge he imparts. And the 100 recipes that come with it, and their endless variations, make for a lifetime of healthy eating.
