Publishers Text

Marie Claire Kitchen is the ultimate companion for the time-poor home cook who wants light and healthy food that appeals to the eye as well as the palate. Cooking the best of each season's fresh ingredients simply is the essence of Michele Cranston's philosophy, and in this book, she equips cooks of all skill levels to create a multitude of recipes bearing this signature. The best of the basics: Marie Claire Kitchen features an extensive collection of basic recipes and variations for breakfast staples, savoury sauces, spice mixes, soup bases, marinades, chutneys, rubs, dressings, pastry, cake mixes, pizza bases, and fruit and dairy based sauces desserts. Luxury pantry: Each chapter contains a 'luxury pantry' section, full of fresh and fast recipes and ideas, many of which involve no cooking. Using just a couple of fresh or luxurious ingredients in addition to pantry basics, these ideas, combined with the best of the basics, add up to an endless source of inspiration. The best recipes: Michele Cranston's all-time favourites for every meal type and occasion: Breakfast, Spa (light meals), Lunch, Afternoon tea, Cocktails, Dinner, Sweets, Nightcap. Photography: Complimenting the ephemeral still life photography that has become a Marie Claire trademark, Kitchen will have an injection of lifestyle, reflecting the colour themes of the main recipe chapters.
