    Really tasty chowder. We prefer pork bacon instead of turkey bacon. Adding the corn cobs to the simmering stock adds a lot of flavor (cut the cobs in half to better fit in the pot.)

    As miso dressings go, this was not one of my favorites. The balance seemed off - maybe less onion and garlic? Normally, a dressing with this much umami going for it would have me almost drinking it. I might try it again, but not without some serious tinkering

    Great dressing! Made the salad with buratta. Used maple syrup instead of agave nectar. For variety add slivers of salami or prosciutto.

    I am feeling very uncharitable feelings toward Ms. Paltrow at present. This is the recipe that has taught me that I do NOT know how to pound meat. I have shredded bits of chicken all over my kitchen counter at present. And two VERY small residual chicken breastlets to milk and breadcrumb for our dinners, once the cherry tomatoes have finished roasting. Hmph. Phooey, I say. Also, needs to be more aggressively seasoned than I managed. Maybe salted a couple of days in the fridge, per zuni cafe cookbook?

    Easy and delicious. Salt and pepper the breasts after pounding them and let them rest in the fridge for 1/2 an hour or so. Add some dried basil and or oregano to the panko crumbs.

    I rarely comment, but here goes. I looked for such a recipe after eating a 10-hour chicken in Madrid and was very excited to find this touted by and reproduced by some bloggers. Alas, it did not measure up. The breast was dry despite all of the braising liquid, and unfortunately, dousing it with the broth was not a satisfactory solution because cooking lemons for this long made the broth bitter. The chicken I had in Madrid was much smaller - a poussin - and was butterflied before cooking. I think both differences are significant and will try the recipe again. Regardless, stuffing the chicken with the lemon halves is not a good idea.

• Broiled salmon with homemade teriyaki sauce

    After marinating the salmon for 2 hours, it had a subtle teriyaki flavor. I was afraid to let the fish marinate too long as it might affect the texture. The texture and flavor were great. I grilled the salmon outside rather that in the oven, which made for a fast meal with easy clean up.

    This is an easy and versatile side dish. Make it with any combination of veggies as suggested. Not just for winter. Works beautifully with just young spring/summer carrots alone. Can also be nice with quartered onions added in.

    I was very skeptical, but these were delicious and the kids loved them too. I used regular milk, and I had to use more agave for some of the maple syrup (I ran out) but otherwise I followed the recipe. I'm sure they're delicious as written too.
