Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Crispy chicken Caesar salad

    • Bessp on December 31, 2025

This was a fine Caesar salad. I prefer a dressing with lemon rather than vinegar, and more anchovies. Good, but nothing special.

  • Pasta with aubergine and cherry tomatoes

    • pinkpaisleyxx on November 08, 2024

There's no smoked mozzarella in my local shops so used smoking gun (or any cold method of smoking) to smoke an Aldi ball. Also a couple of drops of liquid smoke in the sauce. It didn't taste smoky but added a lovely depth of flavour to it and well worth the effort (of the smoking bit - the rest of it was quick & easy). Definitely one I'll be repeating.

  • Roast pork belly with apple and mustard sauce

    • Bessp on May 18, 2026

The skin didn't turn out quite as puffy and crispy as I wanted, but the fat was well-rendered and the meat was juicy and tender. The sauce was a lovely counterpoint to the rich pork. I served with peas and potatoes.
