    Best scones ever! These strawberry filled roll-up scones are baked in a cake pan which also makes for a very attractive presentation. Gone within the hour.

    These are extremly quick to make (i.e. 30 minute tops from start until they are out of the oven) and very good. They were a little dense but probably due to some overmixing since I used the food processor rather than mixing the dough by hand.

    I didn't get the shape right, but other than that, this recipe is outstanding. Loved working with the dough, the flavors were balanced and delicious and overall, this was really tasty. They also freeze well. Next time I will make a double batch.

    A very fudgy cake with a fair whack of citrus. Certainly err on checking a bit earlier than indicated, as this could very quickly overcook.

• Super-light lemon poppy seed cake

    This was okay, though I wouldn’t describe it as super light. Good flavor, just a bit different than most lemon cakes due to being made with brown sugar.

    Excellent! Halved the recipe and made in a 20cm springform tin. Very nice winter cake!

    I didn’t love this - felt like it was missing something. Recipe needs some work. Tasted like diet blondies.

• Shortbread cardamom cookies that will melt in your mouth

    Made these for my Christmas cookie plate. Excellent cookies with a perfectly balanced cardamom taste. Loved the soft texture which as promised felt as if the cookies melt in your mouth. Will make again!

• Pinwheel cookies with cardamom, orange and walnut

    Made these much smaller than descibed in the recipe in order to fit them on my cookie plate. Very distinct orange and walnut taste, liked it very much. Reduced the total amount of sugar that is needed for rolling out the circles before baking by more than half. For me there was still enough caramelisation on the puff pastry even with much less sugar.

• Lightning-fast banana balls

    Super quick to make, ideal for baking with children. Not very sweet, but my 9 year-old still loved them. Would probably add more banana next time (mine was quite small) to have a more pronounced banana taste.

• Olive oil almond cookies

    Made these for a friend with IBS, whose diet is very restrictive. As the recipe introduction reads “for the person who is allergic to everything”, I thought these cookies would be perfect for her, but you really have to be desperate to like these. The dough was very crumbly and would not form into balls. Instead of adding more olive oil as suggested I added half an egg, which did the trick. After 15 minutes in the oven they did not look anything like the photo so I left them in for another 3 minutes. Taste very boring despite the addition of orange zest.
