Notes about this book

  • FJT on July 05, 2014

Seriously good is right - lots of tasty recipes to show those diagnosed with coeliac disease that their diet doesn't have to be restrictive. Many of these recipes are naturally gluten- free but there is a section at the end for cakes, breads etc... (although Phil Vickery's second book in this series - Seriously Good! Gluten-free baking - is better for that topic). I've made quite a few of the dishes in this book and have yet to be disappointed with the results.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Spiced apple compote with thick yoghurt

    • Pamsy on October 05, 2025

Sounds fancier than it is, basically stewed apples. Served with Greek yogurt, toasted coconut flakes and pumpkin seeds for breakfast. Also good with Nick Nairn's Vanilla Creams.

  • Sautéed chicken livers with tarragon muffins

    • Pamsy on May 14, 2023

First recipe from this book and it was awful. Neither of us could eat it. I now know chestnut flour has a very strange taste.

  • Sweet Kansas-style barbecue pork shoulder

    • FJT on March 10, 2015

Easy to make and very tasty. I often make the coleslaw recipe that is part of this recipe for pot lucks and it always goes down really well.

  • Twice baked pork with red onion stir-fry

    • FJT on March 10, 2015

So good - I've made this pork recipe many, many times. My family isn't as keen on the red onion stir fry but I think it goes very well with the pork.

  • Carole's no-flour orange cake

    • e_ballad on August 07, 2018

A very zesty cake, this is a very dense version of similar almond/orange cake recipes. A great gluten-free option, but for those without restrictions, I prefer Claudia Roden’s recipe.
