Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Creole Christmas trifle

    • Shelmar on September 06, 2019

Massive, very good, proportions are off. Reduce whipped cream to 3 c. (1/2 c. sugar), raspberries to 5 pints, Grand Marnier to 7/8 c.

  • Banana cream pie

    • heidi_ijgwa2 on December 25, 2025

So much is wrong with this recipe. Too much crust for 9” pan—even too much for 10”. Filling has way more cornstarch than necessary, so much so that the lovely vanilla bean custard becomes cornstarch flavored. Like the idea, but recipe is very flawed. The accompanying chocolate sauce is made with chocolate chips and turns out slightly gritty, likely bc of the stabilizers and emulsifiers in the chips. Would not recommend. Other recipes in this book are great, but this one is a fail.

  • Stewed black-eyed peas

    • chawkins on November 05, 2015

This was very good., quite simple and not a whole lot of hands on time. I used13.5 oz of turkey andouille instead of the called for 1 lb because that's what I had and that was enough to flavor the peas.

  • Jalapeño and cheese biscuits
