Notes about this book

  • TrishaCP on June 12, 2020

Strawberry coconut- I was very dubious about the addition of frozen cauliflower (!!!) to a smoothie, but I couldn’t taste it at all because this tasted overwhelmingly of the protein powder that I used. (It was the stevia.) I would like to try it again without that artificial-type flavor involved. Also, while the recipe says you can use frozen strawberries, I recommend fresh because it was difficult to blend with all of the other frozen ingredients.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Mango spice

    • TrishaCP on July 24, 2020

I didn’t have high hopes for this smoothie as I thought the ingredients read quite savory, but this was my favorite so far besides Pink Milk. The spices are subtlety warming and this was very creamy. I subbed a teaspoon of honey and 1/4 cup silken tofu for the banana and also added the optional ground flax. Will definitely repeat this.

    • skvalentine on April 23, 2025

This was just OK. Very creamy (which I don't like -- something about the texture makes it hard for me to drink). But taste was not bad!

    • robin_gemtnj on June 02, 2026

This recipe is fine. I added a cup of spinach which is why it’s green. I wouldn’t make this one again becuase you don’t end up tasting that small amount of spices.

  • Dragon

    • robin_gemtnj on May 03, 2026

This one was good but not as bright as I expected

  • Secret mango creamsicle

    • Jviney on January 01, 2021

I used almond milk and made as written otherwise. This one wasn’t my favorite - it was grainy to me and I expected a little bit more sweetness. My husband liked it.

  • Piña colada

    • skvalentine on March 30, 2022

I liked this! My 4 year was not a huge fan but did eat some. This was very thick so we ate it as a smoothie bowl, topped with sliced bananas and chopped pecans. I didn't have frozen cauliflower so I used frozen zucchini instead.

  • On vacation

    • robin_gemtnj on May 19, 2026

This was a fine smoothie. I didn’t have coconut milk so I substitute 2/3 Greek yogurt and 1/3 the weight of frozen coconut. Expected a more tropical flavored than I got. That may be the coconut adjustment, but I suspect it could have used the juice of half a lime as limes were in the picture but not in the recipe. (As most of my smoothie, I like them as a bowl to keep me going till lunch so I also added 1 c spinach, hemp, chia, flax and pumpkin seeds)

  • Pure gold

    • Jviney on August 21, 2020

This was lovely and light. My husband claims to not like most of the ingredients in this smoothie, but he loved the smoothie. Next time for fun I might add some vanilla protein powder, but it was good as is.

  • Tropical lassi

    • TrishaCP on July 22, 2020

This smoothie is full of mango, blueberries, and yogurt - which is obviously a delicious combination. I used plain yogurt and vanilla almond milk. I wasn’t a big fan of the addition of almond butter.

    • skvalentine on May 06, 2025

Excellent! Everyone liked this one. Will repeat!

    • robin_gemtnj on May 03, 2026

Liked this smooth but wish there was more mango flavor

  • Avo-coco kale

    • TrishaCP on July 29, 2020

Truly godawful. I like kale but the grassiness was so unpleasant in this form, and the other ingredients didn’t mask it. I used double the coconut the recipe called for, and I could still only taste kale.

    • robin_gemtnj on May 14, 2026

This was okay but lacking in any sort of flavor pop. Not enough coconut notes as I was hoping and the single date didn’t do much to sweet it. Made it through by topping with summer fruit. Will not make again.

  • Bright green

    • Jviney on September 02, 2020

Very fruit forward and very easy to throw together. We liked this one!

    • robin_gemtnj on May 14, 2026

This one was delicious and will keep for the rotations. I did also add Greek yogurt which made it creamy without masking the tropical flavors

  • Super greens

    • skvalentine on March 18, 2025

Did not love this one-- had to kind of choke it down. Will try it again with lemon juice rather than lemon with pith/peel.

  • Sweet green

    • skvalentine on April 15, 2022

Pretty good! I used oat milk and I like the flavor a lot. I prefer my smoothies on the thin side so I added about a cup of water.

  • Triple green

    • robin_gemtnj on June 01, 2026

Taste like a banana and milk smoothie that happens to have some greens.

  • Vanilla cinnamon date shake

    • TrishaCP on July 25, 2020

This was really flavorful and delicious. I subbed silken tofu for the banana, but otherwise followed the recipe. Since there aren't as many frozen ingredients in this shake (unless you use a frozen banana)- this will benefit from chilling before drinking it.

    • Jviney on February 07, 2024

Everybody in the family loved this one. I didn’t have hemp hearts and my flax seeds had expired but it was really delicious as it was.

  • Chocolate nut

    • TrishaCP on August 13, 2020

This was somewhat reminiscent of a peanut butter cup. I subbed silken tofu for banana and used vanilla protein powder.

    • robin_gemtnj on June 01, 2026

Loved the flavor and will make again

  • Creamy vanilla shake

    • TrishaCP on July 29, 2020

This straight up tasted like a less sweet vanilla shake. I subbed silken tofu for the banana and omitted the collagen peptides. Loved this one.

    • skvalentine on March 31, 2022

This was tasty. My kids wanted it to be sweeter and thinner. Will try again!

  • Berry vanilla shake

    • TrishaCP on July 24, 2020

Absolutely delicious berry flavor. Definitely will make this again.

    • Jviney on August 25, 2020

This was delicious and very much like a milkshake. The recipe notes said it would make one serving so I doubled it, and it felt like enough for at least three and maybe four people.

    • robin_gemtnj on June 01, 2026

This wasn’t very berry or vanilla forward. Won’t be making again. There are better berry smoothies in the book.

  • Blue chia

    • TrishaCP on July 26, 2020

A very blueberry forward smoothie. I subbed silken tofu for banana and didn’t add any sweetener to replace what would have come from the banana. I would make this again

  • Blueberry cherry lemonade

    • TrishaCP on July 26, 2020

This is a great and refreshing smoothie. I used fresh cherries and about 1/3 of a lemon (for a double recipe). Sweet but not too much so. Definitely will repeat this.

    • skvalentine on March 31, 2022

Delicious! Very refreshing. I crave this one. I usually use lemon juice instead of the lemon with pith and peel.

  • Pink milk

    • TrishaCP on July 24, 2020

Really good. I used frozen strawberries and bumped up the amount to 1 cup. As a result, I had an icier and thicker drink than perhaps what was intended and I really liked it that way. My milk was unsweetened vanilla almond milk and I reduced the honey.

  • Berry green

    • robin_gemtnj on May 14, 2026

This one was okay but with berry in the name, it was not berry flavor forward

  • Carrot apple mango

    • TrishaCP on November 06, 2020

This was creamy and rich, although made with virtuous ingredients. I am hooked!

    • robin_gemtnj on May 17, 2026

I like this one more than many of the others I’d made this week. I will definitely bookmark it for when I have apples that are bruised or mealy so they don’t go to waste. Great sweet and slightly tropical flavor.

  • You're nuts!

    • TrishaCP on June 24, 2021

I subbed out the banana (as I always do)- in this case using frozen mango. My version was just barely sweet with a nice nutty flavor. I think this is the most filling smoothie that I've made- so this is a good one if you want one that will fill you up.

  • Banana split

    • robin_gemtnj on May 27, 2026

I made this one as an “indulgent” birthday smoothie bowl. The texture with only the frozen banana ended up a touch thin so next time I may add a bit of crushed ice. But the flavor was great and topped with banana, strawberry, peanuts, cocoa nibs and coconut.

  • Cotton candy

    • TrishaCP on July 25, 2020

This was fine but not better than the other strawberry smoothies in this book, so I don’t think I will repeat it

  • Hubby's dessert

    • TrishaCP on August 10, 2020

Really delicious and creamy. I used silken tofu instead of banana, and about 100 grams of coconut. My add ins were flax and hemp seeds.

    • Ajammies on January 17, 2022

Very good, dessert type smoothie as written. I've also made it by doubling the dates and removing the coconut for my family (they are not fans of coconut). Another day we didn't realize we were out of mango so we have swapped the mangos for cherries. Original recipe and variations are all yum! I enjoy the bulk of the smoothies from this cookbook.

    • Jviney on February 09, 2024

We really enjoyed this one. Almost pina colada flavors, sweet but not cloying.

  • Peanut butter banana date shake

    • skvalentine on April 20, 2026

My son made this for an afternoon snack and it was excellent! As with all of the smoothie recipes in this book, we had quite a bit more liquid, as we like a thinner shake. Delicious and will definitely make again. Even my kids that say they don't like dates liked this one.

    • robin_gemtnj on May 20, 2026

Love this recipe! Will make again. Also works with PB2.

  • Samoa

    • TrishaCP on August 10, 2020

Very decadent tasting. I subbed vanilla Greek yogurt for the banana.

  • Super seed

    • TrishaCP on August 11, 2020

The chia seeds in this produced an unpleasant texture for a smoothie. I suggest omitting them. I subbed silken tofu and a date for the banana (but would use two dates next time).

  • Cherry vanilla

    • TrishaCP on July 22, 2020

This was a very satisfying smoothie - all of the protein made it very filling and the texture was good. (Not too thick, not too watery.) I skipped the collagen powder, and used flax and hemp seeds instead. Also, subbed frozen mango for the banana.

  • The kitchen sink

    • TrishaCP on August 11, 2020

I used the Smart Harvest Mediterranean blend of fruit in place of the fruits and veggies that were called for and I liked the result. With the exception of the color- that fruit blend comes out with a greyish tinge.

  • Everything but banana

    • robin_gemtnj on May 15, 2026

I like the creaminess the avocado adds to this smoothie, but between the avocado and carrot and fruit, it sits halfway between sweet and savory, which isn’t my favorite. I chose to add a cup of spinach, sub the kefir for Greek yogurt as well as half the milk for more yogurt, double the hemp hearts, and add a teaspoon of flax and Chia seeds. I skipped the antioxidant powder, which, for all I know may have added more sweetness, but did not have it.?

  • Blueberry muffin

    • skvalentine on May 08, 2026

Loved the addition of the oats, but my kids wanted this one to be sweeter, so I added some honey. I also thought it needed more acid, so next time I'll add lemon juice.

  • Cherry almond

    • Jviney on January 10, 2021

This was a great smoothie, not too sweet but very satisfying. Great consistency, pretty and pink. One of my favorites from this book.

  • Peach protein boost

    • TrishaCP on July 26, 2020

This was refreshIng and light and I certainly plan to make this frequently throughout peach season. I used half a serving of protein powder, and that was plenty for me. This is best if peaches are frozen, since it isn’t quite frosty enough otherwise. (Or, add a handful of ice cubes.)

    • robin_gemtnj on May 03, 2026

      Great as a smoothie bowl

  • White peach mango

    • TrishaCP on July 24, 2020

This is a pleasant, not too sweet smoothie intended to highlight the delicate flavors of white peaches. It is successful in that regard, although I admit to swapping out cardamom for vanilla. (I had tried this before with yellow peaches, and thought the cardamom was overly strong.) Using fresh peaches, it is closer to a milk consistency, so go with frozen ones if you want a more smoothie-like texture.

  • Stone fruit

    • TrishaCP on July 24, 2020

I detest bananas so subbed regular yogurt (1/4 cup) in this. As a result my smoothie was pretty thin, even though I also added ground flax. I used all apricots because I have a pile of them at the moment. This was ok, but I will try again with peaches as I think I will enjoy their flavor more than apricots. ETA- tried again with peaches, pluot (instead of plum), frozen mangoes instead of banana, and protein powder. Better but I’m still not quite satisfied. Maybe you really need banana in this one?

  • Apple pie

    • TrishaCP on November 06, 2020

Not sure this tastes exactly like apple pie, but it was a hit nonetheless. I think the date is optional depending on the sweetness of your apple.

  • Pumpkin spice latte

    • robin_gemtnj on May 03, 2026

This was good but not share it will be my go to
