Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Cruffins

    • pinkpaisleyxx on February 24, 2026

Time consuming but not difficult. The most time was getting the dough and butter to the specified dimensions in a square or rectangle shape! Absolutely delicious and worth the effort. Don't need jam or cream - they were lovely as they were sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.

  • Blackberry and pear crumble cake

    • davelongdon on December 28, 2022

Not very successful. Mixture rises at the edges pushing all the pears into the middle, making the middle taking forever to cook.

  • Prue's malt loaf

    • anya_sf on November 13, 2021

Make sure the sugar syrup doesn't cool too much before mixing and pouring or it won't come out of the pan. Initially eaten 2 days after baking, the malt loaf had a strong molasses flavor, which definitely needed to be balanced by a thick layer of butter or cream cheese. By the third day the flavors had mellowed more and we liked it better.
