Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Sweet potato, basil & feta dip

    • emma_u3ftm3 on May 09, 2026

      Kids absolutely loved this one!

  • Cannellini, orange, cumin & feta dip

    • julie_o94mq6 on March 06, 2026

Super quick and easy! All ingredients on hand! Will make again.

    • Pamsy on May 16, 2026

Tasty, would repeat. Needs quite a bit more spicing than the recipe suggests. Flavours came through better on day 2.

  • Carrot chips with za'atar yogurt

    • Katie on April 04, 2026

I needed two baking sheets even for a half quantity! It made a lot. It also a bit longer to bake than the recipe said. Really tasty!

  • Spinach & feta pie

    • sarahj22 on October 12, 2025

Lovely, low effort. I didn't read the recipe properly and only bought 180g of spinach (instead of the specified 600g) so bulked it out with jarred roasted red peppers, finely chopped. It was my first time working with filo and I was a bit cavalier with the layers, but it all still tasted great. Served at room temperature as part of a Middle Eastern spread which was a lovely match. I'm planning to cook this again soon to serve hot as a lunch for guests with salad. I've had a couple of issues with Sabrina Ghayour recipes in her earlier books but the ones I've tried from her more recent ones have generally been excellent: reliable and beautifully flavoured.

  • Sizzling sesame tomato & cucumber salad

    • amy_rzzu49 on April 12, 2026

Can make the dressing in advance. Goes well with kofta kari

  • Sweet & sour broccoli chopped salad

    • KarinaFrancis on August 28, 2025

I can see this going on regular rotation, it’s tasty and substantial. Leftovers were good the next day too. Pomegranate was out of season so I sprinkled on some dried cranberries.

    • julie_o94mq6 on March 06, 2026

Very good! Easy to make, quick. I used the microwave for the broccoli. Might use fewer pomegranates. Delicious and pretty!

  • Spicy sausage tacos with green herb salsa

    • Pamsy on May 13, 2026

As I was cooking this, I wasn't inspired by the look of the dish. However, I decided to top with a fried egg (instead of cheese) and drizzled the salsa over. Wow, great! Next time, I would use a more interesting sausage (chorizo or Italian, something gutsy) rather than plain pork.

  • Pan-fried pork with coconut harissa sauce & cucumber & tomato salad

    • coastal_colibri on May 26, 2026

Used pork chops instead and it was delish

  • Fragrant chicken kofta patties

    • sarahj22 on September 16, 2025

Tasty and fairly easy. Gently spiced and good for midweek. I omitted the spring onion and air fried at 170 (instead of pan frying as per the recipe). Served with yogurt, salad, pitta bread and leftover roasted peppers. Don't skip the squeeze of lime juice at the end - it really lifts everything.

    • Maefleur on November 09, 2025

Tasty, tender and flavorful, these little patties came together pretty quickly. Cooked them on the grill 4 mins. per side. I didn't have flatbread, but took a cue from the photo in the book, and made lettuce wraps. Really nice with the onion, parsley and sumac salad and a dollop of yogurt.

  • Butterflied orange & paprika chicken

    • julie_o94mq6 on March 06, 2026

Chicken was great! Quick easy, kept it warm in oven. We added orange and sumac to the mayo and it was tasty! Easy and delicious homemade chicken sandwich.

    • julie_o94mq6 on March 06, 2026

Really loved this, will make again. The chicken was fantastic! Easy week night homemade chicken sandwich. We made the mayo sauce with orange zest, juice and sumac and it added so much!

  • Muhammara cod

    • Pamsy on May 16, 2026

Okay, but I doubt it will be repeated, too many other recipes I want to try.

  • Spiced chicken, carrot, preserved lemon & raisin tagine

    • luke_i8msqc on April 27, 2026

Delicious! Very straightforward, beautiful flavors, falling apart slow cooked chicken - really great.

  • Dr Youssef's Egyptian macarona Béchamel

    • dogo on January 20, 2026

Nice paste but nothing special. Student feel.

  • Kofta kari

    • amy_rzzu49 on April 12, 2026

Makes four portions. Made alongside suggested cucumber and tomato salad

  • Hummus soup

    • lynn_rknh6v on April 19, 2026

Thinner than I expected but really nice. A comforting soup. The drizzle of olive oil on top made a difference, so I wouldn’t skip it.

  • Baharat & tomato chicken traybake

    • KarinaFrancis on November 13, 2025

I love a tray bake where you throw everything in together and let the oven do the work. I added a touch of cayenne because I like some heat. Would definitely make again.

    • AliCox on January 14, 2026

Tasty but would recommend using thin waxy potatoes, we just used general white potatoes and they didn't cook through in the time given

  • Fragrant chicken 'ahh'

    • Maefleur on November 16, 2025

Made just as written, my chicken may have been larger and cooked a bit longer. Served with the suggested Paprika, Garlic, Lemon & Za'atar Potatoes. Delicious!

  • Citrus & spice almond tart

    • veronicafrance on April 29, 2026

I almost made a Bakewell tart, but decided to make this instead. Excellent choice! I used my own recipe for pâte sablée, as the reason I was making a tart was because I had some leftover in the fridge. I took Sabrina’s advice, and rolled it out between two sheets of clingfilm. I don’t know why I’ve never tried this before — a game-changer. No flour needed, no sticking or tearing, and I was able to roll it out smoothly and thinly to just fit the tin. I also didn’t bake blind, as I normally would, and the pastry was still crisp and golden brown. The flavour of the filling is delicious, with subtle, balanced spice and citrus (I’d increase the cardamom a touch next time). A keeper!

  • Dark chocolate, ricotta, coconut & lime cake

    • sarahj22 on October 12, 2025

Easy and delicious. The lime flavour is beautifully pronounced and the coconut, almond and ricotta flavours are more subtle. I slightly overbaked this so it was a little dense - the instructions specify an hour at 160 in a fan oven, I checked mine after 35 mins (from cold) in an air fryer at the same temp - but it was still lovely and I'm confident it would be lighter if I'd cooked it a little less. We had as a dessert with Greek yogurt and Fabbri cherries, but it would be just as nice as a stand-alone daytime snack with tea or coffee.

    • Anea25 on March 08, 2026

Great recipe, the texture is nice and moist. It's very easy to make.
