Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Vodka-spiked cherry tomatoes with pepper-salt

    • mooo42 on December 09, 2018

      Sooo much work.

    • agendafan on May 25, 2021

They are a bit fiddly, but took less time than the roasted red peppers that were part of the same dinner. They're always a huge hit, both because of how delicious they are and because of the concept of peeled tomatoes. Made for Millie

  • Garlicky sun-dried tomato spread

    • amoule on August 15, 2014

I thought this was delicious but, to be honest, on a crowded table of potluck appetizers it was left almost untouched. The leftovers will be great on fish fillets or chicken breasts.

  • Sesame-orange granola

    • Couture911 on September 20, 2010

After years of making the granola from "Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone" I tried making this. This is now my favorite and I make it at least once a year.

  • Lemon-raisin breakfast bars

    • amoule on September 29, 2015

I made these substituting dried peaches for the raisins. They were delicious.

  • Double-boiler scrambled eggs

    • Ahujam on February 26, 2023

Made eggs this way from now on! Fluffy and delicious.

  • Sow's ear baked apple pancake

    • stepharama1 on November 13, 2022

This is a great recipe for a relatively easy brunch dish. I've been making this for years and everybody loves it. It's not too sweet and yummy from the caramelized apples.

    • MollyB on January 14, 2024

Loved this recipe! Pretty easy and not too sweet. A blender worked well for the batter.

    • jhallen on January 29, 2025

This was good and puffed up in a cool way. For me, it was a bit too buttery and definitely don’t need 3 T of powdered sugar. 1 was more than enough.

  • Pasta with born-again zucchini and pesto

    • MollyB on February 25, 2023

This was pretty good and easy, but not great. I used store-bought pesto, and I think it would have been a lot better with home made pesto

  • Blue plate meat loaf

    • MollyB on March 11, 2018

Great classic meatloaf recipe. Fairly easy without a lot of fussy chopping. I like it best with a country-style sausage (i.e. with no fennel).

    • jhallen on October 19, 2022

This is my “go to” meatloaf recipe. It never fails and is easy to put together. Can’t go wrong.

  • Whipped root vegetables

    • jhallen on January 29, 2025

This is very good - I made it years ago when this collection first came out and just revisited it. Really good way to use up turnips which I otherwise don’t generally love!

  • Real simple lemonade

    • trudys_person on August 03, 2014

Interesting technique - blending lemons and sugar together then straining. Works well. Definitely start with the lower amount of sugar.
