    This is a great little mix to throw together from the spice cupboard and it's easy to heat up based on your preferences. I used it to season both the beef and the veg for some very tasty fajitas.

    I made chicken fajitas with this blend. I wasn’t sure how much to use for my chicken. I was VERY generous, and they were well seasoned. I tossed the pieces with the seasoning and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours. I’d consider adding some oil and a bit of lime juice for more of a marinade situation in the future.

• Taco seasoning

    I needed a taco seasoning and this fit the bill. I have different chili powders to choose from & so used a mix of hot and mild. I just tasted the chicken breast that was coated in this and pan roasted - it is good :)

• Everything bagel seasoning

    I made this to top some homemade bagels and it was really tasty. It did not call for black sesame seeds which many recipes do and I would have had to leave them out anyways :) Of course this is pretty simple stuff but the ingredient ratios given worked for us and I will use this one again.

• Homemade pizza dough

    A very tasty pizza dough that resulted in a light yet beautifully crispy crust. I am a bit low on bread flour and so I used about a 50:50 mix of bread & Tipo 00 flour which worked well (although most sources do say that the gluten level in Canadian all purpose also makes it a good stand in for US bread flour). This is one of the few I've made which compares favourably to my usual Barefoot Contessa recipe and I would make this again if I intended to use my large stoneware pan as I did last night.

    Holy moly!! This may be one of the best pizza dough recipes ever. I let it sit for close to 6 hours, rather than one. It's tender, bubbly, and flavorful. And no knead to boot?? Yes, please.

    These were easy to throw together. I wish they were a little softer and little more flavorful. I would double the salt (I used Diamond brand kosher salt which isn't as salty as regular table salt) since they just needed a little more flavor.

• Jo's marinara sauce

    I made this “new to me” marinara for use in a couple of dishes coming this week. It called for red onions and lots of fresh herbs which helped my choice but I feel like it is too heavy on the tomato paste. And because of that, I find myself fussing with a little sugar, more salt (including a parm rind) and some basil pesto to achieve a more balanced sauce. It will certainly get used as planned but not sure I’ll repeat this one.

    Made with yellow onion and half tomato sauce half crushed tomatoes because it’s what I had on hand. Used about 3oz tomato paste after reading the other review. Simmered for longer than intended but it turned out well!

• Garlic knots

    This dough came together beautifully and was very easy to handle (ie forming the knots). The garlic / parsley butter (be generous!) adds tons of flavour and I finished with a good sprinkle of fleur de sel. Served warm beside a big Cobb salad, they pretty much disappeared.

    Sometimes it's more about looking for a method than an actual recipe and this method worked. I've seen so many versions with different oven temps (or the broiler) , flip / don't flip etc. A brush with olive oil, seasoning with S & P and 425 for 10 minutes (with a 1/2 time flip) leaves me happy to serve my fresh tomato & garden basil bruschetta on these little guys.

    So good! Very sweet and rich - definitely a treat. I didn’t make the streusel with it this time, but will try it with in the future. I could see the base muffin being really good with some lemon zest in there too.

    Super tasty if not a little on the sweet side for me. I made one substitution, and it worked great! I used plain Greek yogurt in place of milk. The cake had a nice buttermilk like flavor as a result. It did made the batter thicker of course, but it still worked great!

    These were a delicious, lemony and not too sweet alternative to cinnamon rolls. The dough worked perfectly, I would use this sweet dough for other uses as well as it was super easy to work with.

    Solid waffle recipe. Turned out great. I used buttermilk instead of milk. The recipe calls for baking powder which requires an acid to work. Buttermilk provides that.

    These waffles were absolutely incredible. SUPER fluffy, light, and airy with that beautiful golden exterior. If you love a waffle that feels soft and pillowy instead of dense, this recipe is a winner. The texture alone sold me, but the flavor was equally delicious. This is the kind of breakfast recipe that instantly gets added to the repeat list.

    This was a very tasty soup. As usual, I held some broth back back and might cut back even more next time..... or perhaps I just didn't use enough vegetables? The creamy base (I used the blender) was good but a bit "one note"...a splash of pickled jalapeno brine solved that. As I wanted a slightly more substantial dinner soup, I added grated cheddar & Monterey jack and fresh corn with the chunks of chicken. T also suggested that some potato would have been good. We both enjoyed this soup and I can see repeating this for sure with some additional ideas to personalize it.

• Potato salad

    This was a good simple potato salad (which is what I wanted). I used some thin skinned Yukon golds in place of the reds and more celery than called for. We both did agree that the dressing was heavy on the yellow mustard & felt it needed a hit of sweet to offset that......I would whisk in some honey or sugar next time. Also, I cut everything in 1/2 (except the celery) but I seem to have tons of unused dressing left over (and I feel like I do use a lot). Am I imagining reading MANY comments throughout EYB where lots of different salad recipes result in a large excess of dressing??

• Classic cheesecake

    I hadn't made cheesecake in a long time, and it came out pretty well. Very smooth and did not crack or anything. The only thing is that the taste was pretty mellow - not too much cheesecake flavor, I think because it calls for 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream. Maybe next time I'll try cutting back on the cream.

• Chicken pecan asparagus casserole

    I chose to make this because I had all the ingredients on hand and was intrigued as I'd never heard of the dish. This had layers of crust, chicken, asparagus, and cheese and while we had our doubts it turned out to be quite delicious. I followed the instructions to let it sit for 30 minutes coming out of the oven and was rewarded with perfect slices. I'm not sure I'll rush to make it again just because it was a bit rich for everyday, but was fun to try.

• Honey garlic chicken with pineapple

    This was good, if a little too sweet. The apple cider vinegar offset the sweetness of the pineapple, honey, and ketchup a bit, but I would reduce the honey or ketchup next time and probably cook the sauce. Overall, this was an easy weeknight dinner that I would make again.

    I should have read the recipe more closely before making it - I expected the sauce to be reduced or used as a glaze, but instead only 1/4 of it was glazed on the chicken and the rest was meant to just be mixed with the cooked vegetables. After tasting it, I decided to spoon some over the vegetables before broiling them. I also roasted a separate sheet pan of green beans and spooned some sauce on those as well, mixing them with everything else at the end. We liked this OK that way, but it was still pretty sweet. No one wanted the extra sauce. I liked it better with some Sriracha.

    A 3.0 out of 5. We read the review from megbgraham yesterday and had been looking for something different to do with chicken. This dish is good, not spectacular. A weeknight dish is a good way to describe it. I'm not so much of a sweet and sour kind of person, but the wife likes all things sweet and sour and she loved it. We used bone-in chicken thighs since it's what we had in the freezer. The chicken thighs took an extra 15 minutes or so of baking, but they came out moist. We will make it again.

    Tasty weeknight taco recipe. I used chicken thighs in place of the chicken breasts. I lightly cooked (a little char) the corn tortillas over the stove's gas flame and liked the resulting flavor/texture. The corn, cheese, and onion mix is pretty tangy from the pickling liquid and the lime juice, but we both liked it. I would make this again.

    With canned chicken broth (not low-sodium), no additional salt was needed. The rice turned out perfectly using exactly 1 14.5-oz can broth. I used lemon and parsley instead of lime and cilantro, a delicious variation. Just 1 Tbsp butter at the end made it buttery enough for us. In our house this just served 3.

    I scaled this back by 1/2 and I used / did everything as described (including her homemade fajita seasoning).... but then used the meat, veg & cheese to make fajitas instead of sandwiches as I had a couple of flour tortillas to finish off. I prepped all the ingredients early in the day and so it was super quick to cook at dinnertime, I served the fajitas with a Mexican street corn salad and it was an easy and very tasty dinner.

    Simple but good, like my mother used to make. I cooked a 3 lb roast with proportionately less salt and pepper and sprinkled flaky salt on top at the end. The roast was definitely done after 3.5 hrs.

    Tasty and super saucy - plenty for more beef and/or mushrooms (I would opt for more mushrooms). My beef wasn't the best and probably would have turned out better cut into strips rather than cubes.

• Southern sweet potato casserole

    Sweet potato casserole is not my thing, but my husband thought this was a solid version of this dish. To me it's way too sweet to be a side dish, but if I didn't think of it that way, I thought the flavors were good and I liked the cornflake topping. Unfortunately the marshmallows caught fire under the broiler almost immediately. I scraped them off (sadly removing some of the cornflake topping) and tried again with the dish further from the heat, and the marshmallows were still almost too brown in about 5 seconds.

    I made this crema to use with our flank steak fajitas (different marinade recipe) and it was really good. A big hit of chipotle with a splash of lime provided great flavour to this creamy sauce.

• Shrimp & grits

    I just made the grits to serve under a pork chile verde and we enjoyed flavours from the old white cheddar & garlic powder. I did add a handful of frozen corn as we like those little pops of freshness. The grits I have on hand take longer than the 8 minutes suggested (ie for quick cooking grits) but no matter - I just kept heating/stirring til I was happy. I will probably come back to try the full recipe (ie shrimp, thick cit bacon etc) soon.

    This is really delicious but on the sweet side for me. I omitted the powdered sugar in the whipped cream. Next time, I think I would double or even triple the whipped cream to fold in next time. I also may add more salt. Delicious and rich. Will make again but adapt slightly!
