  • Grilled chicken with arugula and zucchini salad with lemon-caper vinaigrette

    • lou_weez on October 10, 2017

A quick, healthy and delicious weeknight dinner, that's perfect for the warmer months. The kids even loved the zucchini salad!

    • peaceoutdesign on October 31, 2018

Only made the vinaigrette and tossed it with tortellini and parmesan. I think that it would be great on the zucchini salad.

  • Grilled pork satay and peaches with carrot-cilantro salad

    • lou_weez on January 13, 2020

This was sensational!! Amazing flavors, relatively quick and easy to pull together and a hit with the whole family.

  • Grilled fish tacos with pico de gallo

    • hbakke on February 26, 2020

We made this in a cast iron pan since the fish we had would have been obliterated on the bbq. I don't really love fish tacos (we used flounder instead of the mahi-mahi), but these were pretty good. I think my favorite part of the recipe was the pico de gallo. I used white onion and red jalapeno (spicier than the green) with lime juice and the pico de gallo was delicious. I would make that part of the recipe again.

  • Grilled salmon with orzo, feta, and red wine vinaigrette

    • julesamomof2 on February 08, 2022

This was good, but the vinaigrette and it's 1/3 c of EVOO was unnecessary. Otherwise, pretty standard rendition of an orzo salad with grilled salmon on top.

    • treay on March 29, 2025

This yummy and easy recipe takes nothing to cook and it is a nice way to accompany the salmon. Make sure you serve the salad warm. Bon appétit!

  • Cauliflower and spinach dal

    • swegener on March 08, 2015

Good, but my split peas took FOREVER to soften and I just bought them. Next time I will buy them from somewhere with more of a turn over.

    • Totallywired on October 23, 2018

This dish is absolutely delicious. Warming and comforting, great weeknight meal.

  • Pesto-glazed chicken breasts with spaghetti

    • Cheri on October 04, 2015

If you already have pesto, this is really easy and quick, for a tasty meal. This comes together so quickly, that it is certainly good weeknight fare. Served with a big green salad.

  • Grilled Moroccan ground beef skewers with couscous and yogurt sauce

    • MmeFleiss on March 06, 2015

I made this with ground lamb and it's my favorite recipe from the book. The lemon amount in the yogurt sauce should be halved.

    • treay on March 29, 2025

This recipe is so easy to make and turns out so amazingly tasty that you have to stop yourself from eating more. You can cook the skewers in the BBQ but if you don't feel like it or you don't have one, they are equally delicious when made in a grill pan. I used veal and pork mince, but they are also beautiful with beef or lamb mince.

  • Grilled pork chops and vegetable gratin with caper-parsley vinaigrette

    • peaceoutdesign on March 04, 2015

The only thing that was a little special about this was the caper vinaigrette

  • Cider-Dijon pork chops with roasted sweet potatoes and apples

    • treay on March 29, 2025

This was the first time that we had this meal. It turned out delish and will be making it again. Easy to prepare and I served it with a rocket and goat cheese salad. It was the perfect Saturday night's dinner.

  • Halibut and spinach with orange-pine nut vinaigrette

    • peaceoutdesign on October 31, 2018

      Great vinaigrette

    • treay on November 13, 2024

Fantastic recipe. And it looks fabulous on the plate!

    • anya_sf on May 16, 2026

Quick, easy, and very tasty. The vinaigrette tasted sharp on its own, but was perfect over the fish and spinach. I cooked a full pound of spinach as we like more greens, using a separate pan mainly so it would all fit.

  • Fettuccine with shrimp and fresh tomato sauce

    • lou_weez on August 07, 2021

This was really good. My tomatoes weren't very ripe so I cooked them down with the onion and garlic, before adding the prawns.

  • Chicken pot pie with winter root vegetables

  • Grilled lemon-oregano lamb chops with rustic bread salad

    • lou_weez on March 20, 2022

Easy, delicious dinner. I used sour dough, in the salad, and grilled it on the BBQ, along with the lamb, so good.

  • Bacon, corn, and potato chowder

    • lou_weez on July 21, 2017

Took a little longer to cook than the recipe stated, but when it was it was enjoyed by all. Whilst not the healthiest meal I've ever cooked with the amount of cream in it, I would make it again.

  • Chicken cassoulet with fennel and bacon

  • Asian beef and vegetable lettuce cups

    • hbakke on March 03, 2020

These were alright. I'm not a huge fan of bean sprouts, so that may be why I thought these were just okay. I made the accompanying broccoli/carrot slaw and the broccoli I had was too fibrous. Overall, a meh meal.

  • Hearty split pea soup with cheesy croutons

    • hbakke on March 02, 2020

Tasty, easy to make soup. I don't know what other smoked ham hocks are like, but we had to use 3 to equal a pound and one had no meat on it. The 2 others had only a tiny chunk of meat. I would leave the lid off for 15+ minutes at the end to make the soup a little thicker. I would put the croutons on at the last possible second because they got soggy very quickly.

  • Conchiglie pasta with chorizo, red bell peppers, and spinach

    • treay on July 12, 2025

This recipe was easy to prepare and quite tasty.

  • Bow-tie pasta with corn, thyme, and Parmesan

    • hbakke on February 27, 2020

This was a quick, easy recipe. There was nothing objectionable about this, but it was kind of boring. I used a 1 lb. bag of frozen corn in place of the 2 cups of fresh corn.

  • Peppered rib-eye steaks and creamed spinach with blue cheese

    • peaceoutdesign on November 24, 2022

I would add more spinach. the steaks were nothing special just S&P.

  • Seared scallops and peas with bacon and mint

    • treay on November 26, 2024

      Lovely recipe!

  • Grilled shrimp and asparagus with lemon-shallot vinaigrette

    • Zosia on May 13, 2016

I found a variation of this recipe online that called for roasting the asparagus and shrimp in a very hot oven. That's the one I followed but substituted the season's first fiddleheads for the asparagus (after first steaming them for 5 minutes). There didn't seem to be enough of the dressing so I added extra lemon juice. This was a really lovely dish that I made for family but would serve to guests as well.

    • tlight on June 09, 2019

This is the recipe I keep going back to when I have shrimp and asparagus in the fridge. Have made it at least 3 times. Simple and fresh.

  • Grilled pork chops with potato, cauliflower, and Camembert gratin

    • treay on March 29, 2025

The gratin was too liquid the first day but it improved when heated again the following day.

  • Asian crab cakes with mango chutney

    • Kinhawaii on April 29, 2020

Unfortunately didn’t have the mango for the chutney, but we really enjoyed these crab cakes!

  • Pot roast with cherry tomatoes, fingerling potatoes, and olives

    • treay on March 29, 2025

This is a real comfort food recipe. It takes about 30 minutes to prepare, but then you can put it in the oven or slow cooker and forget about it for about 2-3 hours. A little secret ????? It tastes even better the following day!!

  • Southwestern chili

    • Acarroll on March 02, 2025

Really good flavor. I liked the use of dried chilies. I used bison and only 1 can of beans because that's what I had. Next time I'd switch it up and do 1 lb of meat and 2 cans of beans.

  • Classic meatloaf with mashed potatoes

    • Delys77 on September 06, 2024

A bit too much glaze and a bit too much herb flavour. Overall good but not as well balanced as one would like.

    • treay on November 11, 2024

This is the first time I have cooked a meatloaf and have to say that it was very easy to prepare and the result was very delicious. I didn't serve it with mash potatoes (we had potatoes the previous night) and made a Cauliflower gratin instead. The homemade Ketchup was also very easy to make. I adapted it and made it in the Thermomix, and it probably needed less time cooking, because it probably thickened a bit too much, but the taste is just amazing. I have made various recipes from this cookbook, and they always turn out delicious...

  • Slow-cooked pulled pork sandwiches with "fireworks" coleslaw

    • bwhip on February 23, 2020

Perfection. Everything about this was great. The pulled pork turned out fabulously flavorful and tender, and the barbecue sauce was delightfully tangy and delicious, with just the right notes of sweet, spicy, and tangy. The cole slaw was the perfect counterpoint, in texture and flavor. I made homemade potato rolls, which made for some really great sandwiches.

  • Curried lamb shanks with carrots, chickpeas, and potatoes

    • treay on March 29, 2025

This recipe was yummy and quite simple and easy, but needs to cook in a slow oven for more than 2 and a half hours. The result was the meat falling off the bone and it was delicious to mop up the juices with some bread. Comfort food at its best for a winter evening.

  • Tangerine tequila sunset

    • peaceoutdesign on February 08, 2021

This had no depth. It could have been that the tangerines weren't flavorful enough. I doubled the tequila, added 2 1/2 cup tangerine juice besides what was muddled, and the juice of 2 limes. I used unsweetened cranberry juice and once it was reduced I added it to the agave syrup. this syrup concoction was pretty good and worth working on a way to use. I added it to the cocktail once it was in the glass for that "sunset" effect.

  • Chocolate chunk cookies with pecans

    • Devons on November 12, 2018

Delicious and easy. Used pecans and cashews. Had only half amount of chocolate and it was no problem.
