Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Fresh egg pasta

    • et12 on June 28, 2023

An easy to make recipe. The dough came together in no time and was easy to work. I made a half batch and it was perfect for four servings.

  • Mexican chicken and fideos soup

    • jen_fh90ur on February 24, 2026

I was hoping the fam would like it better but I think it was just not quite what they expected. We have a lot of leftover liquid that I’m gonna turn into some sort of enchilada, I think. I’m vegetarian so I didn’t try it but it smelled great

  • Hand-cut wheat noodles

    • puppyluf on July 19, 2023

Easy and delicious. Made with a neutral olive oil. Note to self: do not stack the noodles on each other in a bowl when you are done cutting them; the bottom ones welded themselves back together into a blob, and i ended up having to pull noodle-type chunks into the boiling water. They were still very good, though. Thick and chewy.

  • Potato gnocchi

    • et12 on June 20, 2023

Easy to follow instructions that resulted in great gnocchi with the exact texture that we love. The recipe notes that it takes 1.75 hours not including cooling time so you need to factor in another half hour to 1,5 hours. The recipe also notes to cool the gnocchi on a cooling rack and to make sure they don’t touch one another. I really recommend the type of cooling rack that has a close grid as opposed to the one I used which saw most of the gnocchi fall through the cooling rack.

  • Vietnamese summer rolls with peanut sauce

  • Greek orzo and tomato soup

    • et12 on January 23, 2025

A Tomato base vegetable soup with a unique flavour profile. Easy to put together with good flavours .

  • Chicken noodle soup with turmeric and coconut milk

    • NancyCucina on December 04, 2025

This is a tasty soup. I made significant changes however. I reduced the chicken broth to 2 cups, water to 1 cup, reduced fish sauce to 1 tablespoon, used 2 lbs of chicken thighs, and kept the rest of the seasonings the same. I added some fresh veggies that I had on hand, green beans, carrots, and tossed fresh spinach in at the last minute. Flour slurry instead of chickpea flour . I used shaped pasta (shellbows) and liked the results. Wished I had remembered to add a keffir lime leaf or two while it simmered. Next time I will add chick peas. My changes would make 4 servings.

  • Yunnanese-style pork and rice noodle soup

    • Bessp on January 19, 2026

This was a solid weeknight soup. It could use some more vegetables to be a complete meal by itself. I liked the pork, it was well-seasoned and juicy. The noodles weren't my favorite, I would use regular vermicelli if I made this again. It ended up a little salty, but that was probably user error.

  • Rigatoni with pistachio, ricotta and herb pesto

    • Lottabooks on May 06, 2023

This was very good! Made 1/2 recipe and it was plenty for two of us with a side salad. Be sure to warm the pasta bowls (oven or with extra pasta water). Couldn't find raw pistachios - roasted and salted were just fine. The sauce seemed too thin when added to blender, but once added to the pasta, it seemed to thicken up and needed a bit more pasta water. Be sure to reserve enough. Grated a little extra parm for serving. Mine was a lot greener than the photo, probably because I used extra basil. This was a good use of artisan ricotta (had some leftover from the Frittata in I Dream of Dinner).

    • NicoleBrown on August 02, 2024

This was so delicious! Even 2 out of my 3 kids enjoyed it (can’t win ‘em all). Used basil & chives from our garden for the pesto! Will make again.

    • dbuhler on January 15, 2025

This was okay for me. I really liked how creamy the sauce was, but the flavor didn't wow me. I used salted pistachios and it wasn't too salty.

    • Orleams on March 16, 2026

      Good but not exciting.

  • Peruvian spinach pesto pasta

    • NicoleBrown on August 30, 2024

I liked this a lot, but the rest of my family thought it was a bit too garlic-heavy. I love garlic! It also made a lot! If we repeat this recipe I would like to decrease the amount of pasta cooked + separate some of the pesto out for batch freezing.

  • Chinese chili and scallion noodles

    • et12 on July 09, 2024

I thought this was ok. A bit sweeter then I would prefer but enjoyable and definitely quick to put together.

  • Shrimp with orzo, tomatoes and feta

    • NancyCucina on January 18, 2026

I used what I had on hand and skipped the tomatoes. Added lemon zest, dill and peas. Delicious and quick

  • Gnocchi with pancetta and garlic

    • et12 on June 21, 2023

Made this using some of the potato gnocchi I made the night before from this book’s recipe. Was an easy thing to put together and some nice comforting flavours. I would halve the amount of garlic next time though and add more fresh herbs.

  • Farfalle with zucchini, pecorino and basil

    • AndreaSP on August 04, 2024

Easy and yummy, with mostly pantry ingredients. I subbed raw walnuts for the pistachios.

  • Turkish-style noodles with butter, walnuts and feta

    • michalow on September 10, 2023

Quick, easy, and very tasty, Aleppo pepper and lemon nicely balance the richness of the nuts, cheese, and butter. I added a bunch of sautéed greens instead of parsley and served topped with a fried egg for a complete meal. Whole grain pasta would probably work well here.

  • Orecchiette with Sardinian sausage ragù

    • et12 on March 02, 2024

Some really good flavours here and very quick to make. I couldn’t find any Italian sausages but used Spanish style spicy sausages and it worked well.

  • Rigatoni carbonara with peas

    • et12 on April 09, 2024

We were looking for a tasty dish with comforting flavours and this hit the spot. Easy to put together and made lots.

  • Spaghetti with lemon pesto

    • CynthiasCooking on June 01, 2023

      Really good lemon flavor.

    • CynthiasCooking on June 01, 2023

Really good lemon flavor and very easy to make

    • jen_fh90ur on February 28, 2026

So incredible and light. Would have liked to cut the fat a little more but the taste was amazing

  • Gnocchi with pesto alla Genovese

    • et12 on July 22, 2023

Easy to make and really nice flavours. I assumed I wouldn’t need to salt the pasta water since the pesto was so salty but this was not the case.

  • Pasta all’Amatriciana

    • et12 on May 06, 2024

Simple and easy but with good comforting flavours. I used some left over sausage meat instead of bacon lardons and it worked well.

  • Rigatoni with tomato, kale and Fontina

    • puppyluf on July 19, 2023

Very delicious, easy sauce. I made this with the hand cut wheat noodle recipe from the book. Subbed mozzarella because it was all I had. You really have to coordinate cooking the different parts of the recipe, so read the recipe ahead of time carefully.

  • Orzo with chicken, tomatoes and feta

    • sdeathe on July 27, 2023

This was disappointing. A bit bland, and mushy, certainly not the punch I was expecting given the ingredients.

  • Indian vermicelli with peas and cilantro

    • michalow on September 25, 2023

I found this a bit boring. I perked it up with some lime juice, radishes for extra crunch and--incongruous as it may seem--some feta for a bit of creamy sharpness. Even though it was quick and easy, I doubt I'll make this again.

  • Pasta with butternut squash, browned butter and almonds

    • et12 on November 13, 2023

I love anything with roasted pumpkin and this was a nice, quick and tasty weeknight meal. I would add more almonds and cheese next time.

  • Farfalle with creamy carrots and pancetta

    • Jviney on April 09, 2024

This was interesting, more in a good way than a not good way. The one pot situation was nice and I enjoyed all the carrots. Probably wouldn’t add the capers next time, there is already a pop from bacon and the brine of the capers was off-putting to me.

  • Tuna and pasta gratin

    • dbuhler on May 16, 2024

This dish was a disappointment. It smelled amazing while baking, but the taste of the final dish fell flat and didn't have much flavor. On plus side, I absolutely loved the bread topping and I will definitely use this technique again when I need a bread crumb topping for a baked pasta dish.

  • Baked pasta with eggplant, sausage and Fontina

    • et12 on June 15, 2024

This was an excellent pasta bake. Very comforting flavours and a good amount of cheese.

  • Baked pasta with tomatoes and fresh mozzarella

    • et12 on July 17, 2024

Nice, tomato forward flavours with a good amount of cheese. Felt like a good pasta bake for a summer day.

    • Bessp on May 07, 2026

I made this with some alterations. I added sausage and ricotta for more protein and cheesiness, and baking soda instead of the sugar. The baking soda neutralizes some of the acid from the tomatoes, which allows more of the natural sweetness from the tomatoes to come through. This was a warm, hearty, comforting dish. It didn't take long to make, and the sauce had lovely flavor and depth. The tiny hint of spice from the red pepper flakes was perfect.

  • Pasta with tomato, onion and butter

    • et12 on August 27, 2024

Simple, delicious and comforting. I added dried oregano to the sauce.

  • Spaetzle

    • jdejong on October 10, 2024

This was my first time making Spaetzle. I followed the recipe with the addition of a spoonful of Paprikash mustard. Such a quick and flavorful accompaniment to pork chops in an apple cider, bacon, and shallot sauce. Loved the texture of the spaetzle. Will make again.

  • One-pot pasta all'arrabiata

    • et12 on February 25, 2025

When it first finished simmering and before adding the cheese and allowing the pasta to rest, I tasted it and was worried it was going to be watery and bland. But that’s definitely not the case the cheese and some additional seasoning really make a difference. Not to mention it all came together in under fifteen minutes.

  • “Orzotto” with asparagus, lemon and Parmesan

    • et12 on May 18, 2025

This was a really nice way to cook the orzo and the flavours really balanced out well, especially with the asparagus. It was difficult to stick to only one serving.

  • Pasta with sausage, olive and fennel seed ragù

    • cleo_vimqze on February 20, 2026

I used the beyond meat spicy Italian sausage— amazing

  • Shanghai-style fried noodles

    • gemini_n56abk on May 04, 2026

This is a good basic recipe - good for nights where I'm stuck on what to cook but have udon in the freezer.

  • Korean stir-fried noodles with mushrooms and spinach

    • sasha_ejo9r9 on June 02, 2026

I put left over meat and put about a tablespoon of crushed pepper flakes. Came out amazing!
