Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chicken, Brie, cranberry and pink pepper pithivier

    • marydulwich on January 31, 2021

This was one of the most appealing recipes in the book from the images but sadly I found it a little bland. I loved the idea of the combo of chicken, brie and cranberry but for me they didn't deliver. Not in love with the pink peppercorns either. Despite that it all still got eaten...

  • Tutti-frutti Pavlova

    • marydulwich on January 19, 2021

Incredibly sweet but an impressive dessert that tastes great, and I fared well considering it was my first attempt at meringue.

  • Earl Grey sticky toffee pudding

    • eclairea on March 16, 2025

So good! Earl grey was a nice touch, could be stronger. Made for a dinner party to rave reviews! Great cold weather dessert.

  • Chocolate caramel flan

    • marydulwich on January 31, 2021

I can't believe how perfectly this turned out. I thought it seemed quite ambitious, and quite likely to end up nothing like Nadiya's but I was wrong! It looks fab, tastes delicious, and the way the layers of the sponge and flan swap over in the tin as they're baking is like magic!

    • darcie_b on August 20, 2021

This is not difficult to make but it is impressive to serve. The flan is silky and the cake is fudgy. I was worried it would be too sweet but the balance is good. Everyone was clamoring for seconds.

    • stef on October 11, 2021

This was a delicious dessert. Easy to make. Used a 10 cup bundt. Next time will use my angelfood pan. Felt cake layer was a bit too thick

    • Vidon33 on January 25, 2026

I’ve made this a few times now and it’s always a hit!! Love the magic results.

  • Chewy chocolate krispy squares

    • Eleanorconroy on April 17, 2025

I only had 250g Rice Krispies but it still made a very tall bake in this size of tin! Next time I'll try a half amount of everything, but keep the full amount of chocolate topping - I think this'll give a better balance and be easier to eat! I didn't bother with the sliced mars bars on top

  • Fudgy flapjacky fudge

    • marydulwich on January 19, 2021

I just couldn't get this at the right consistency to set for some reason. I much prefer the burnt almond fudge in Family Favourites - that's perfection.

  • Polenta cake with rhubarb and rosemary

    • eclairea on May 25, 2026

Great flavours, love the combo of rhubarb with the two different citrus zests and rosemary! But the cake fell apart when I sliced into it after it cooled, and the powdered sugar crust just ended up looking like mould on top. Tasted fantastic, though! Listed as cornmeal cake, not polenta cake, in my copy of the book.

  • Tahini cake with banana curd

    • Staceydee on March 07, 2026

      A very interesting cake!

  • Turmeric and ginger diamonds

    • danibattle on June 08, 2022

They are ok....and better at least a day after you make them. I didn't add as much ginger syrup to the top as I didn't have enough, and I expect that changed the flavour a little. They taste better when the tahini that you spread on the bottom of the pan sticks to the cake, but I had to really work hard to get that to happen as I took them out.

  • Onion seed biscuits [and masala chai]

    • NelCooks on October 24, 2025

This recipe is missing oil/ghee/butter and did not work. What a waste of time and ingredients

  • Chewy chocolate-chip cookies

    • marydulwich on January 19, 2021

I struggled with this one - the dough/batter was just too thin so ended up adding more (too much) flour so they ended up as stodgy cakey cookies.

  • Pulled chicken doughnuts

    • marydulwich on January 19, 2021

Fabulous recipe, completely original, and the bbq filling is delicious.

  • Cardamom lemon iced fingers

    • marydulwich on January 19, 2021

Fresh out of the oven these are amazing. A light and super soft sponge with a zesty topping. They're definitely not as good the next day so eat them all at once!

  • Cauliflower cheese lasagne

    • Yildiz100 on November 14, 2021

Onions were still a bit crunchy. Maybe boil them with the cauliflower next time or just omit them, because cauli cheese doesnt really need onion. (Boiled the cauli and broccoli rather than microwaving). Reduced the garlic powder from 2 Tbsp to a half tsp. Was still a bit strong, but I dont care much for dried garlic. The whole dish smelled of sour cream and onion chips. Overall an ok dish, but not sure I would repeat.

  • Teriyaki chicken noodles

    • trudys_person on July 17, 2021

I made this dish after watching the Netflix show - It's easy, quick and delicious!

  • Spiced squash strudel

    • marydulwich on January 19, 2021

A really easy recipe that tastes great - creamy squash, crunchy cashews and a pop of sweetness from the currants.

This is the US release of Nadiya Bakes.

When Nadiya Hussain, the UK's "national treasure," began cooking, she headed straight to the oven--which, in her home, wasn't used for baking, but rather for storing frying pans! One day, her new husband asked her to bake him a cake and then... she was hooked! Baking soon became a part of her daily life.

In her newest cookbook, based on her BBC series "Nadiya Bakes," Nadiya shares more than 100 simple and achievable recipes for cakes, cookies, breads, tarts, and puddings that will become staples in your home. From Raspberry Amaretti Biscuits and Key Lime Cupcakes to Cheat's Sourdough and Spiced Squash Strudel, Nadiya has created an ultimate baking resource for just about every baked good that will entice beginner bakers and experienced pastry makers alike.
