Notes about this book

  • Rutabaga on February 06, 2019

The recipes I've tried so far have been winners. The cacio e pepe is the real deal - so good, with the real taste of Rome! It probably helped that I used a locally made Pecorino Romano, as I'm sure the quality of cheese makes a difference. The cooking method works perfectly, but I would add more pepper for a good kick. The kale with garlic also turned out just right, tender and sweet. The chickpea soup is also good, although mine had a sweetness to it that I didn't expect.

  • Chickpea soup (Zuppa di ceci)

I was really disappointed with this - often these Italian soups are greater than the sum of their parts, but this didn't taste of much

  • The wonky Madonna

I have made the Wonky 3 times now. Very easy. Each time, it has certainly 'got the party started'! I like how the added chilli gives a subtle warmth.
