      Nice, simple raita recipe. I didn't bother peeling the cucumber.

  • Fresh green chutney

      I made the mistake of reading the instructions too quickly, and blended all the yoghurt with the herbs instead of just 2 tbsp. The result was that the chutney was very liquid, but still tasty.

  • Potatoes with cumin

      This takes a bit longer to make than the recipe time indicates, since you need to first boil the potatoes then leave them to cool before doing the frying part. This wasn't an outstanding dish but it was definitely tasty enough and I might make it again as part of an Indian feast.

  • Creamy chicken korma with almonds

      I liked nearly everything about this recipe. I used chicken breast, which can sometimes dry out, but in this dish it stayed nice and tender. The curry sauce was also very good: what I'd want from a korma with just one thing missing, which was a sweet note. I don't think the almonds were enough to give it the sweetness I like in a korma, so next time I'd probably try adding some sugar. Other than that, I guess it lacked the depth of flavour that you'd get from a longer-cooked korma using chicken on the bone, but for a pretty quick recipe this one was very good.

  • Chicken tikka with tomato

      These were great. I used "aiguilletes" de poulet, which made for a perfect shape that was easily skewered. The marinade was delicious, and they cooked perfectly under the grill in the suggested cooking time. I'd make these again, they work on skewers as finger food, or would be great as part of a main dish too.

  • Grilled or bhuna fish steaks

      I made this with swordfish steaks, and found it delightful. It's difficult to get my partner to like fish that isn't salmon or tuna, but even he deemed this one "quite nice". The grilling method worked fine (though I think I should have had my grill a smidge hotter to get the browning on the outside, I do tend to like my fish on the underdone side so the overall cooked-ness was perfect for me) and I think these would also be really nice on the barbecue.
