One of my first cookbooks, this one taught me how to make "gourmet" dishes when I was a novice cook. I still routinely make the pasta w/uncooked tomato sauce, the asparagus w/orange butter (that butter is also delicious on salmon), the avocado w/warm tomato vinaigrette, the divine chocolate mousse tart. In these pages, I discovered the simple joy of grilled radicchio and pears baked in cream. The menus are fresh and elegant, even now, and for the most part quick and easy to execute. For my money, Stewart's best cookbook.
