Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Bircher muesli

    • PiaOC on September 02, 2022

This is a light, clean and tangy bircher museli which is made every 3-4 days in our house. When adding sugar, I use maple syrup instead of honey but it is equally delicious unsweetened. Perfect for breakfast with yoghurt and berries.

  • Chicken congee

    • saranb on July 03, 2022

Easy straightforward recipe. It made 12 cups of congee in total.

  • Pickled sardines for crostini

    • treay on September 27, 2024

Amazingly good. Serve with homemade romesco sauce on top of a thin slice of toast.

  • Oven-roasted pumpkin & tomato soup with torn croutons

    • amy_3ah1cl on April 03, 2026

Didn’t have tomatoes so omitted them. Reduced stock to 1L instead of 1.5L to suit. Puréed in Thermomix, didn’t bother passing through sieve as no tomatoes Soup was quite thin, can’t imagine if I had added more stock. I prefer mine more chunky. Not a lot flavour to be honest. Tastes fine but nothing wow.

  • Poached salmon dinner

    • PiaOC on September 02, 2022

      So good and so easy!

  • Annie's 'chicken shop chicken' with crunchy kipfler potatoes & garlic croutons

    • Lafro on September 20, 2022

This was a very delicious roast chicken recipe. I didn't have kipfler potatoes so just used red potatoes par boiled and crushed under the chicken. I added some wedges if fennel as well. I also didn't make the garlic croutons but will have to include it next time. I will be making this again.

  • Chicken Marylands with mushrooms & tarragon in a cream sauce

    • Lafro on July 06, 2025

Went a bit off script by using chicken breast and cooking on the stovetop but it still had delicious flavours despite the shorter cook time. Great comfort food for a cold night.

  • Speedy & spicy lamb cutlets with hot potato salad & baba ghanoush

    • murphyfrank on February 12, 2026

I made this with chops instead of cutlets. The only thing that is speedy is the cooking of the chops. I didn't bother with the flatbread. A delicious meal & the first time I have made baba ghanoush

  • Pork chops with Seville orange & fennel

    • julieG on June 09, 2025

Cooked only on stovetop, only removed from pan to reduce sauce

  • Carrot & pancetta

    • murphyfrank on January 31, 2026

Delicious but serves 2 as a side rather than 4

  • Cypriot-style grain salad

    • KarinaFrancis on October 18, 2021

Delicious! I remember having a Cypriot grain salad at a restaurant years ago and this took me right back! As is the nature of these salads I tinkered a little I didn’t have lentils or coriander so left them out and upped the chickpeas and other herbs. I wish I could have sourced a pomegranate, much better than trying to sub dried cranberries

    • sue_1jkk3t on April 26, 2026

Improvised No chickpeas No pumpkin seeds Cooked Persian lentils and freekeh together for 30 mins water 3:1 grains Just the grain base is great and could be done lots of different ways

  • Carrot cake with Tuscan spices

    • saranb on July 03, 2022

I'm a new baker, I attempted this twice on the weekend. I struggled to get the cake to rise. Although this could be my lack of skill not the recipe
