Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Roasted carrot and harissa hummus with dill

    • Londonyankee on October 14, 2018

Really good. Carrots and harissa gave it nice, tasty twist

    • wkhull on June 14, 2023

This had good depth. I did throw some whole shishitos in with the carrots on the roasting pan and wish I had thrown more. Has a nice sweet flavor, but not overbearing. I'm not a fan of over-lemony hummus, so I did cut back on the lemon juice.

  • Salmon gyro with roasted tomato-mustard seed tzatziki

    • wkhull on January 20, 2023

This was a really good use of left-over salmon. We served it open-face instead of rolled up. Loved the tzatziki sauce adaptation with the roasted tomatoes and mustard - really complemented the salmon.

  • Tzatziki

    • wkhull on January 20, 2023

This was good with the Tomato-Mustard Seed adaptation (Salmon Gyro recipe). I usually can't stand winter grocery store tomatoes, but the roasting method worked out great for this sauce.

  • Shredded greens with feta, dill, and green onion

    • wkhull on January 20, 2023

I don't know that I'd make that as a stand-alone salad side dish, but it was great with the Salmon Gyros. I did mince the white onion bottoms and added it to the vinaigrette.

  • Roasted cabbage steaks with caraway vinaigrette

    • wkhull on March 27, 2023

I found the vinaigrette way to acidic. The cabbage ends up coming apart instead of staying in a nice steak format.

  • Vegetarian chili with roasted sweet potatoes and pepper vinegar

    • hbakke on September 14, 2021

Great veggie chili. It was very thick at the end of cooking so I thinned it with a little water. The pepper vinegar was too spicy for me so I left it off. I would make this again.

  • Buttermilk dressing

    • eroachTN on April 24, 2020

Normally BF recipes are super flavorful, but I had to make a few additions to zing this up. I do like this as a base for making it my own.

  • Blue cheese dressing

    • eroachTN on July 14, 2019

Delicious! Made it to go with buffalo wings!

  • Nutty vinaigrette

    • eroachTN on June 21, 2022

It came out water. Next time I'll do only one tablespoon oil and no water. Flavor is pretty good, but again, watered down

  • Radish tzatziki

    • eroachTN on October 10, 2019

Hated it. And we LOVE radishes.

  • Peruvian ceviche with popcorn

    • eroachTN on May 12, 2020

This recipe is a little 'extra'. I omitted the clam juice, pastes and calamari then used sriracha and shrimp and it turned out great.

  • Shrimp pad Thai salad

    • eroachTN on November 22, 2022

Pretty good! The dressing recipes called for to much oil and water, so I'll cut those back next time.

  • Roasted carrots with Spanish spices and harissa yogurt sauce

    • LifeofPie on October 27, 2022

I made this recipe with regular peeled carrots and it worked just fine. The harissa I used is New York Shuk available online and highly recommend. I'd make this again. I watched a video online from Food Network featuring this recipe and they added a pomegranate dressing which would be excellent. I'll try that next time.

    • LifeofPie on October 27, 2022

Add the pomegranate dressing recipe available on the Food Network if it's not in the book. That would give it a nice little bit of acidity
